The consumer group surveyed thousands of British shoppers to find out which retailers they trust most.

In studying what? It surveyed 4,863 Britons about their experience of buying new technology and home appliances in the UK.

Participants were questioned about their overall experience, as well as the quality of products available, customer service, range of products available, aftercare service and value for money.

Analysis of their answers revealed that Richer Sounds was the top tech store, with an impressive average customer score of 95 percent.

One shopper said what? that Richer Sounds’ “knowledge and customer service is second to none,” while another said they have “quality products at great prices.”

It was followed by Apple (87 percent), John Lewis (86 percent), and Dell (83 percent).

At the other end of the spectrum, The Range and Sainsbury’s were rated as the worst stores to buy technology, with an average customer score of just 68 per cent.

It was closely followed by Tesco (69 per cent), Asda/George (69 per cent) and Quoris (71 per cent).

Speaking to What?, one shopper said Euronics had “very competitive prices”, adding that they received “great service”.

Close behind were Marx Electrical (86 per cent), John Lewis (85 per cent) and Lakeland (84 per cent).

In contrast, B&M (66 per cent), Home Bargains (67 per cent) and B&Q (68 per cent) were rated as the worst stores to buy home appliances.

With Black Friday and Christmas quickly approaching, which one? It encourages shoppers to take the time to research what they want to buy and where best to buy it from.

“Shoppers may be looking to pick up a fast new laptop or a shiny kitchen appliance – but we’ve found that some retailers simply aren’t up to scratch when it comes to quality or customer service,” said Ellie Clark, retail editor at What?.

“Our research shows that shoppers who want assistance with large purchases are better off turning to specialty retailers, where customer service and technical expertise are a priority.”
