Who would take the lead role if Hollywood cast a new Santa Claus movie? To answer this burning question, MailOnline turned to ChatGPT
To understand the ultimate TV Santa, MailOnline asked ChatGPT: 'Who would you cast as the dream Santa in a movie?'
After a few seconds, the AI bot suggested five actors, which it said would “each bring a different flavor to the iconic character.”
Topping the list is two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks, who previously starred in the Christmas classic The Polar Express, but not as Santa Claus.
'Known for his warmth and versatility, Tom Hanks was able to bring a genuine and endearing quality to the role of Santa Claus,” ChatGPT said.
Next up is Morgan Freeman, who according to ChatGPT would be perfect for the role thanks to his distinctive voice.
“With his deep, resonant voice and commanding presence, Morgan Freeman was able to bring a sense of wisdom and authority to the character,” it explained.
Star of Bridget Jones' Diary and Paddington, Jim Broadbent, is ChatGPT's third suggestion.
“Jim Broadbent, a talented character actor, was able to provide Santa with charm, humor and a touch of whimsy,” it wrote.
While Kurt Russell already played Santa Claus in The Christmas Chronicles, ChatGPT says he could revive the role in a future film.
And while Kurt Russell has already played Santa Claus in The Christmas Chronicles, ChatGPT says he could revive the role in a future film.
“Kurt Russell brought a cool and contemporary touch to the character,” it said.
“He could be a good choice for a modern, action-oriented Santa.”
Finally, if he were alive, ChatGPT says Robin Williams would have made a great Santa Claus.
“Known for his comedic brilliance and heartwarming performances, Robin Williams could have brought a unique and unforgettable energy to the role,” the statement said.
The news comes shortly after ChatGPT revealed its dream lineup for a film based on The Nativity.
According to the AI bot, Mary's leading female role should be Natalie Portman or Jessica Chastain.
Oscar Isaac appears to have impressed ChatGPT in his role as Joseph in the 2006 film, with the AI bot suggesting that he or Joaquin Phoenix would make the best Joseph.
And perhaps inspired by their previous roles of Lady Galadriel in Lord of The Rings and Voldemort in Harry Potter, ChatGPT suggests that the angel Gabriel should be played by Cate Blanchett, and Herod by Ralph Fiennes.

The three Wise Men – or Magicians – will also be three very familiar faces.
Gaspar, the king who brings incense, could be played by Javier Bardem, while Oscar winner Morgan Freeman could take on the role of Melchior, the king who brings the gift of gold.
Completing the trio as Balthazar – the king who brings myrrh – should be Idris Elba, according to ChatGPT.
Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman could be cast in the key role of Leader of the Shepherds, alongside Michael B. Jordan and Dev Patel.
Somewhat surprisingly, ChatGPT says that the role of Baby Jesus should be taken over by CGI, or a “young baby actor.”
And finally, having previously narrated the BBC's natural documentary series Killing for a Living, Anthony Hopkins was once again able to lend his voice as narrator.
