REVEALED: Stats boffins work out who the most valuable footballers are from every top club… with surprise picks for Man United and Liverpool, who is YOUR club’s most-prized player?

Statisticians have revealed who the most valuable footballer is at each club and their picks for the best teams in the country will surprise you.

According to Rasmus Hojlund, Manchester United’s most valuable player The CIES Football Observatorywith the Danish striker valued at £101 million.

And Liverpool’s most valued footballer is no less surprising: Darwin Nunez is the big winner, valued at between £72m and £92m.

As for the world’s most expensive star, Jude Bellingham continues to top the list and would become the most expensive player of all time at £236m if any club tried to sign him.

This has been calculated by looking at the value of over 6,000 transfers and the prices paid in the past for footballers with similar characteristics.

Hojlund, 21, joined the Red Devils from Atalanta in a £72million move last summer but has so far failed to turn Old Trafford on its head, scoring 16 goals in 43 games, with just 10 in the Premier League.

Nunez has endured a difficult few seasons at Liverpool since joining from Benfica two years ago in a deal worth £85million.

The 25-year-old scored just 15 goals in his first season and 18 last season despite being given plenty of chances.

Bellingham made his breakthrough at Birmingham, where he became the youngest player ever to play for the team at 16 years and 38 days.

Since then his star has only gone from strength to strength and following his £88.5million move to Real Madrid last summer, he has added La Liga and Champions League trophies to his cabinet.

Bellingham is now worth almost three times what Los Blancos paid him, so he certainly represents value for money for the Spanish club.

Just behind the Englishman in second place is Man City striker Erling Haaland, who is priced at £171m-£217m. However, there is a good chance that those figures will rise by the day as the Norwegian has already scored seven goals in his opening three games.

Most of CIES’ picks are unsurprising, with Bukayo Saka, valued between £115m and £147m, and Cole Palmer, valued between £84m and £108m, chosen as Arsenal and Chelsea’s most valuable assets.

Swedish striker Alexander Isak is Newcastle’s most valuable player, with a potential buyer paying between £64m and £81m, while Mohammed Kudus (£60m-77m) is West Ham’s most valuable player.

Tottenham fans may be raising their eyebrows at their most expensive star, according to the statisticians. James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Dominic Solanke and Heung-Min Son are all being ignored in favour of… Destiny Udogie.

The Italian left-back joined north London from Udinese for just £15million in 2022, but his value has since risen to between £55million and £70million.

The rest of the top of the list is made up of stars from outside the Premier League.
