REVEALED: Sky Sports’ brand new Monday Night Football studio has a tactical ‘dance floor’ where replays can be ‘shown from every player’s perspective’ featuring Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville

Sky Sports unveil their brand new Monday Night Football studio for the first time tonight when Manchester United host Wolves.

The match at Old Trafford will conclude the opening weekend of the new Premier League season and Sky have pulled out all the stops to ensure fans get the best analysis of the action from their pundits.

Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Karen Carney will join host David Jones to judge the game’s main talking points, and will have a new ‘dance floor’ tactic to help them along.

On the dance floor, replays can be ‘shown from each player’s perspective’, giving fans the chance to watch the game from more angles than ever before, and the experts have all been given time on the LED floor to practice prior to to tonight’s live action.

Neville and co. will also have access to a super-wide, high-resolution screen, and the set will have a virtual canopy roof, as Sky is looking to improve their coverage this season.

Speaking of the changes, Sky Sports Managing Director Jonathan Licht said: ‘Sky Sports has been at the forefront of broadcasting innovation since our foundation over 30 years ago.

“The new studio unveiled today demonstrates our commitment to providing sports fans with the most entertaining viewing experience possible from the biggest and most loved events on the sports calendar.”

Sky Sports Director of Creative Output Ben Wickham added: ‘We wanted to create a modular space that brings the latest technology to our client, allows us to showcase the joy of sport and capture the huge technological advancements that are happening rapidly. .

“In addition to sport, it draws inspiration from film and entertainment, where the technology allows us to be brave and add a whole new dimension to our production. The options are endless for future content presented from this studio.”

The studio will also record other sports during the year, with Sky confirming it will be used for the last tennis grand slam of the year, the US Open, which starts on August 28.

Sky have regularly upgraded their use of technology over the years, with Carragher and Neville historically using virtual reality headsets to show supporters specific players’ views of certain key moments in matches.

They have now made further changes and fans will see them in action when the pundits break down this weekend’s fixtures and United’s clash with Wolves tonight.
