With so much football to watch in recent weeks, it turns out that more Americans watched the European Championship this year than the Copa América.
Although the Copa America takes place on American soil, data shows that the European Championship in Germany attracts the most viewers in all 50 states.
By hosting both tournaments in their Summer of Soccer, FOX has seen huge success with millions of viewers tuning in to the network for both competitions. However, their numbers suggest a significant gap in favor of the Europeans.
Figures from FOX show that the 2024 European Championship will attract on average twice as many viewers as the 2024 Copa America.
In the quarterfinals alone, FOX’s coverage of the European Championship drew an average of 3.569 million viewers. With all four matches available on the network, France’s quarterfinal clash with Portugal led the ratings.
