REVEALED: Louis Rees-Zammit attracted interest from nearly HALF of NFL teams before joining the Kansas City Chiefs: ‘He impressed dozens of coaches and scouts’
Nearly half of all NFL teams expressed interest in signing former rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit following his shock switch to football.
The 23-year-old has agreed to a deal to join the Kansas City Chiefs. His move to the Super Bowl champions will be completed on Friday.
Rees-Zammit had also met with the New York Jets, the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos after ten weeks on the International Player Pathway.
But according to the player’s agent, more than a dozen of the league’s 32 teams had expressed interest in the former Wales wing.
“Louis has impressed the dozens of coaches and scouts who have met him in recent weeks,” Kimberly Miale of Roc Nation Sports told Mail Sport. “More than a dozen teams had expressed interest.”

The former Wales wing hopes to play as a running back, wide receiver and on special teams
Rees-Zammit spent 10 weeks at the IPP in Florida, culminating in this month’s pro day when he and other international hopefuls showcased their skills in front of NFL scouts.
Recruits have been put to the test on the field and in the classroom in recent months, with Rees-Zammit given a crash course in route running.
The Welshman hopes to play running back, wide receiver and on special teams where his rugby experience saw him use a kick returner.
“His athleticism and versatility make him a standout in the IPP program. Louis is on such an exciting trajectory right now. He is a great athlete and a great person,” Miale said.
“I can’t wait to see him develop and excel in the upcoming NFL season. The goal is to play on an NFL team and help win a Super Bowl.”
