With Joe Biden’s re-election campaign in tatters and concerns about his mental decline, it has emerged that an expert on Parkinson’s disease is making regular visits to the White House.
According to visitor logs, Dr. Kevin Cannard, a neurologist specializing in movement disorders at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, visited the president’s residence eight times in eight months.
On January 17 of this year, the logs indicate, Dr. Cannard met with Biden’s White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor, cardiologist Dr. John E. Atwood and another unidentified person at 5 p.m.
O’Connor says he has not ordered a cognitive test for the 81-year-old president, despite growing calls for a mental evaluation following Biden’s car-crash debate with Donald Trump last month and the failed damage control that followed.
Biden’s team and allies are scrambling to convince voters, Democratic lawmakers and party members that he is still fit for another term at the Resolute Desk, despite disappointing poll numbers and growing resistance from the left.
Dr. Kevin Cannard is a movement disorders specialist at Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland. White House visitor logs showed he visited President Joe Biden’s White House eight times over the course of eight months
Cannard’s most recent appointment to the White House was in late March 2024, but his first visit was in November 2022.
Cannard attended the most events between summer 2023 and spring 2024.
The doctor recently published a paper on Parkinson’s disease, a central nervous system disorder that affects movement control and is usually classified as body tremors.
Biden has tried to quell rumors that he is unfit to lead, insisting he will run for president in November, but has declined to say whether he undergoes regular formal cognitive testing.
“Look, I have a cognitive test every day,” Biden said Friday when asked about it by ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, referring to the tasks he faces daily in his demanding job.
“Every day I have that test. Everything I do. You know, I’m not just campaigning, I’m running the world.”
Documents show the president was at the White House on the day of the January meeting with the medics, the same day he hosted House and Senate leaders to convince them to support additional funding for Ukraine.
President Joe Biden, 81, and his team have tried to quell concerns within the party that he is unfit to serve another term after his performance in the car crash debate against Donald Trump.
Cannard has held his position at the Walter Reed Center for nearly 20 years.
According to his LinkedIn page, he has worked as a “neurology specialist supporting the White House Medical Department” since 2012.
The White House would not confirm whether the doctors met with Biden, but O’Connor’s primary job is to care for the president and the first family.
The doctor gave Biden a clean bill of health during an annual checkup in February, which showed he did not suffer from Parkinson’s disease, O’Connor said at the time.
Since 2021, he has been the President’s physician and is in daily contact with him.
After the debate, the White House reported that Biden had a verbal “check-in” with his doctor.
Still, questions remain about his competence, especially after his first interview since the disastrous June 27 debate failed to allay fears.
Several Democrats had called for Biden to withdraw from the race after the debate, and they reiterated this call after yesterday’s ABC interview.

The White House declined to say whether the doctors met with Biden during the appointment, but the president was in Washington, D.C., at the time.
Former White House physician and current Representative Ronny Jackson accused the president and his wife of trying to cover up his state of mind.
“I believe he and Jill Biden led the cover-up,” Jackson said.
‘Kevin O’Connor is like a son to Jill Biden — she loves him. It’s crazy.
‘Kevin O’Connor was in office on day one of the Biden administration because they knew they could trust Kevin to say and do whatever needed to be said and done and to cover up whatever needed to be covered up. He’s part of the Biden family.’
O’Connor and Cannard declined to comment when contacted by the New York Post.
A White House spokesman also declined to comment on the nature of the meeting.
“A wide range of specialists from the Walter Reed System visit the White House complex to treat thousands of military personnel who work on the grounds,” he said.
