A retired police officer has been charged with raping a child and possessing child pornography.
David Love, 69, of Radcliff, Kentucky, was arrested on January 4 on charges including rape and sodomy.
In a mugshot released by police, Love appeared to be badly bruised with a thick bandage under his chin and around his head. It’s not clear how Love, who is 6 feet tall and weighs 222 pounds, was injured.
According to the arrest report, Love’s “relationship” with the minor — who was not yet 14 years old — began on Oct. 8.

He allegedly admitted during a non-custodial interview that he had received oral sex from and performed other sexual acts on the minor.
The sexual acts began when the victim was under 14 and continued when they were 14.
Love also reportedly admitted to having child pornography on his tablet and sending it via Facebook Messenger.
Love said he then deleted the images from the tablet.
He was charged with second-degree rape without violence, second-degree sodomy and tampering with physical evidence.
Love was released from the Hardin County Detention Center on Friday after partially securing a $25,000 bond.
