The South India Organized Retailers Association (ORA) on Wednesday threatened to stop sales of OnePlus products at its outlets from May 1, reportedly due to unresolved concerns with the company.

In a letter addressed to Ranjeet Singh, sales director, Oneplus Technology India, ORA said the retailer association has encountered significant hurdles related to sales of OnePlus products over the past year, which remain unresolved.

“Despite our continued efforts to address these concerns with your company, little progress or resolution has been achieved. The promises made have not been kept, leaving us no choice but to take this drastic measure.

ORA would like to give painful notice of our collective decision to stop the sale of OnePlus products in our facilities from May 1, 2024, the agency said.

OnePlus officials were not immediately available for comment.

ORA claimed, among other things, that persistently low profit margins on OnePlus products have made it challenging for retailers to maintain their businesses, especially against the backdrop of rising operational and financial costs.

The report also noted that persistent delays and complications in processing warranty and service claims have led to customer dissatisfaction and additional burdens, despite repeated efforts to escalate and resolve these issues.

ORA said model-specific bundling requirements have forced retailers to sell non-moving products, negatively impacting their already slim margins and causing unsustainable losses to their businesses.

As valued partners, we had hoped for a more fruitful collaboration with OnePlus. Unfortunately, the ongoing problems have left us no choice but to stop selling your products in our stores, ORA said.

The agency urged OnePlus to proactively address the concerns before the end of this month.

ORA is an association through which all the organized trade retailers of South India have come together to form a body that helps in addressing any concerns/problems of its members and also with a motive to collectively help each other and grow, said the ORA website.
