Pho A Gogo owner loses it at customers who left one-star Google reviews about his Melbourne Vietnamese restaurant

A restaurant owner has criticized customers who posted scathing one-star reviews of his food.

Pho A Gogo, a Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne’s Southbank precinct, has racked up almost 9,200 reviews on Google.

The restaurant, which has an impressive average rating of 4.8 out of five stars, has not disappointed the vast majority of guests.

However, the rave reviews have recently been overshadowed by a string of one-star reviews.

Many claimed the owner and staff were unfriendly, while others felt the meal portions were too small.

“The strangest establishment in Melbourne,” grumbled one customer.

Another added: ‘Pass this place if you can. Expensive and children portioned. There are hundreds of other places that take better photos.”

The negative reviews did not go unnoticed by an individual claiming to be the restaurant’s owner, who fired back at the critics.

He responded to several comments, calling some people “stupid” and claiming they were giving fake reviews.

“Who hurt you, who betrayed you or who broke your heart, huh?” the person replied to one message.

One critic was labeled a “faceless coward.”

Duke Chu, the owner of Pho A Gogo, claimed that the negative reviews contained false accusations about the food and service at the restaurant.

He also claimed that the reviews were made to damage the eatery’s reputation.

“I’m sure many have never been here, but still make up the story and put it on Google (without honor and dignity, they are cowardly and faceless),” he said news.com.au.

“Yet I responded by offering to come forward: if I was wrong, I will repay them in full and apologize, but no one is coming forward.

“We also know that no matter how hard we try or how good we are, there is bound to be someone who doesn’t like it and then exaggerates the issue for the sole purpose of destroying our livelihoods.”

It appears that some of the recent negative reviews have now been corrected.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Pho A Gogo for further comment.

Most reviews of the restaurant were positive.

‘This is the best shot I tried in Melbourne. Super friendly owner. I’ll be back, highly recommended!’ wrote a restaurant.

Another added: ‘The food quality is really good. Would love to come back next time we are back in Melbourne.’

Michael Tang, a social media user who often reviews restaurants, described the restaurant as a “weird” place in a TikTok video he uploaded last year.

‘Has anyone been to Pho A Gogo in Melbourne? Just read the reviews,” he said.

The clip showed Mr Tang and his dining companions ringing the doorbell outside before being greeted by staff and let in

He noticed there weren’t many people in the room and was stunned at the amount of time it took to make Pho, a popular Vietnamese soup dish he ordered.

But Mr. Tang admitted that the meal wasn’t that bad.

“If you want to experience something strange and unusual, come to Pho A Gogo,” he said.
