The Republican Party has officially won the majority in the House of Representatives.
The GOP secured the 218 seats it needed to take control from the Democrats eight days into the night of the midterm elections.
Their victory means President Biden’s agenda will hit roadblocks in the last two years of his first term, and they will be given investigative powers as they take control of committees.
Representative James Comer, who is about to take over as chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has warned that Biden’s family, the border and COVID will be investigated.
Hunter Biden and his foreign business deals could be one of the prime targets when the GOP takes the gavel in January.
It is a smaller majority than Republicans would have liked after the predicted red wave failed to materialize.
Democrats retained control of the Senate after Senator Catherine Cortez Masto won re-election in her Nevada seat, meaning the government is in a two-year stalemate.
The Republican victory in California’s 27th congressional district swept the party.
