Republican reveals he’s facing EVICTION from his office because he voted against Jim Jordan: Ken Buck says he has received MULTIPLE death threats as House carnage continues to sink to deeper lows
Republican Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado announced Thursday that he is being removed from his district office and that he has received multiple death threats for refusing to support Rep. Jim Jordan’s bid for House Speaker.
Buck spoke with Kristen Welker, host of NBC’s Meet the Press, on Thursday afternoon as chaos continued on Capitol Hill, with Jordan refusing to abandon his campaign for speaker despite having already lost twice on the House floor.
Buck opposes Jordan’s bid because the Ohio Republican pushed former President Donald Trump’s 2020 election fraud and voted against certifying President Joe Biden’s victory.
“To date, I have received four death threats, been kicked out of my office in Colorado, and have been served with an eviction notice because the landlord is upset with my voting record on the speaker issue. And everyone at the conference understands this,” Buck said.
During both votes, Buck shouted Rep. Tom Emmer’s name, saying on CNN Tuesday that he chose the Minnesota Republican because, “I don’t like Tom Emmer.” I thought this would be the worst job in America,” which he later clarified was a joke.

The response to the disorder was severe, both on Capitol Hill and among Republicans’ Trump-backed MAGA base.
Buck confirmed to Welker that former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy shouted out Rep. Matt Gaetz during a closed-door caucus meeting earlier Thursday.
It was Gaetz who made the motion to remove McCarthy from the chairmanship on October 3, leaving the House without a leader for more than two weeks.
Buck described the three-and-a-half-hour GOP caucus meeting as “painful.”
McCarthy, he said, spoke throughout the meeting because — as the most recent speaker of the House of Representatives — he still retained the power to speak as long as he wanted.
Matt Gaetz stood up and wanted to make a point. Kevin told him to sit down. That’s when emotions started to flare a little bit,” Buck said.
He noted that the altercation lasted only a minute and a half.
Rep. Jim Jordan has lost two votes as Speaker of the House of Representatives, but has not yet given up on his campaign. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives’ now 22 opponents of the Republican Party are receiving death threats from the ‘far right’
“Part of the reason there is anger right now is the constant barrage of phone calls,” Buck said. “I have six full-time people answering the phone, I have 20,000 messages, where we couldn’t keep up with the call volume.
“Family members have been approached and threatened, all kinds of things are happening, there will be some tension,” he added.
A senior GOP source told Axios that Rep. Drew Ferguson told the conference that he had to have a sheriff stationed outside his daughter’s school and at his home because of death threats from the “far right.”
Ferguson endorsed Jordan’s former rival, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, in Wednesday’s failed vote.
“Let me be very clear: This is not Jim Jordan’s fault,” Buck told Welker. “You know, there’s a lot of TV pundits, there’s a lot of radio pundits, there’s a lot of grassroots groups spreading disinformation and hateful information. And it just gets people moving.”
“And there are a lot of people who are scared about the direction of this country and they’re taking it to heart,” Buck said.
Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin — a member of the House of Representatives’ Jan. 6 committee and lead manager of Trump’s second, Jan. 6-related impeachment — responded to the news with a comment indicating he believes you reap what you sow.
“The Republican Party’s refusal to renounce and denounce political violence on January 6 now comes back to haunt their own members who voted against Jim Jordan as Speaker of the House of Representatives.” Raskin posted on X. “Several Republicans in the House of Representatives have now received death threats – horrifying but not shocking.”
