Rep. Ritchie Torres Rips New York Magazine For Publishing ‘Hit Piece’ Confusing Him With NY Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado

New York Congressman Ritchie Torres ripped into New York Magazine for a story about Democrats and the progressive movement after the magazine linked him to another prominent black New York official: Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado.

In an article titled “The ‘Progressives’ Who Left,” the magazine used images of Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, former Congressman Mondaire Jones and Congressman Ritchie Torres.

But the original image did not actually show Torres but Delgado.

Torres took a screenshot of the image and posted it to

“I’m not Antonio Delgado,” Torres closed the magazine. “Not all black people look the same.”

The online version of the magazine article has since updated the image to include Fetterman, Jones, and an actual image of Torres.

Torres is known for supporting progressive legislation in Congress, but he has split with some fellow Democrats in recent months as Torres has been a staunch supporter of Israel following the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attack.

New York Magazine, which was targeted by Torres, elaborated on his support for Israel in its article.

‘Torres is not a hypocrite. If we take him at his word, he has been a Zionist for a long time. But he is also not entirely honest about the progressive movement or his place in it,” the article said.

It further argues that Torres may have been able to consider himself a progressive, but states that “that exercise is now difficult to sustain as Israel wages a genocidal campaign in Gaza.”

Torres labeled the article an “anti-Israel hit piece,” while noting that it conflated his image with Delgado.

The article also features Jones, a former New York congressman running for a return to Congress, who endorsed George Latimer in another New York congressional race against incumbent progressive lawmaker Jamaal Bowman.

Senator Fetterman is also focused on the fact that he has been a fierce defender of Israel and the return of Israeli hostages captured by Hamas more than six months ago.
