Renee Zellweger reveals VERY awkward wardrobe malfunction after the Oscars

Renée Zellweger suffered a real-life Bridget Jones fiasco with a very awkward wardrobe malfunction after attending the 77th Academy Awards in 2005.

The 55-year-old Texan wore an “incredible” strapless red Carolina Herrera gown with tulle trim, and as she left the ceremony, a “gentleman boarded the train.”

When it came to her first Oscars in 1999, Renée wore designer L’Wren Scott’s very first dress and told the magazine, “I think there was a big boy can of Budweiser and a bag of Doritos that went into the prep for this.” Look.’

As part of her “Life in Looks” segment, Zellweger also recalled how costume designer Betsy Heimann created the little black dress she wore in Cameron Crowe’s 1996 sporty rom-com Jerry Maguire.

“That was an incredible time,” said the Big Picture Company co-founder.

‘I think Cameron wanted something that was a bit classic and a nod to the old Shirley MacLaine films that inspired the character [Dorothy Boyd].’

Renée famously gained 30 pounds to take on the titular role in Sharon Maguire’s 2001 rom-com Bridget Jones’s Diary, in which the hapless character decided to wear a Playboy Bunny costume.

“Oh, Bridget,” Zellweger sighed.

‘Gosh, that costume. Oh, [it] made me laugh out loud.”

The Thing About Pam producer star then said: ‘I heard a rumor that Hugh Grant had kept the trousers, the big trousers, but I don’t know if that’s true. We’ll have to ask him!’

Renée also discussed the costumes she wore for her acting debut in Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nurse Betty, Chicago, Judy and her first Vogue cover.

Zellweger will reprise her role as the accident-prone TV producer in Michael Morris’ four-part Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, which premieres on Peacock on February 13 before hitting UK theaters on February 14.

Renée was previously attached to produce and star in Peacock’s WWII Air Force series Avenger Field and also starred in Michael Patrick King’s revenge film The Back Nine, but it’s unclear if either project will move forward.
