Renee Zellweger looks disheveled as she films school run scene for Bridget Jones 4 in penguin pyjamas and a necklace with ‘late’ husband Mark Darcy’s initials

Renee Zellweger looked disheveled as she continued filming scenes for Bridget Jones 4 in London on Saturday.

The American actress, 55, was dressed in penguin pajamas and gray sweatpants, teamed with a cool faux fur cardigan.

She paid tribute to her on-screen husband, Mark Darcy, while wearing a silver chain with a ‘D’ pendant.

Mark (played by Colin Firth in the films) is murdered in Helen Fielding’s third novel, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy. It is unknown if the film’s plot will include his death, but Colin has not been announced as a cast member.

At one point, Renee was seen with her on-screen children, who star as daughter Mabel and son Billy.

The young actors wore school uniforms as Renee held their hands and walked them to school.

Renee stepped out in white high socks and brown Birkenstock sandals with a black handbag.

The film is based on the novel of the same name in which Bridget battles motherhood alone after the tragic death of Mark, who was played by Colin, 63, in the previous films.

She will also embark on a romantic relationship with a much younger man named Rockstar, played by One Day star Leo Woodall, 27.

Actress Leila Farzad was also on set during filming and cut a chic figure in a cream beige suit.

In the new film, Bridget enjoys an affair with Rockstar and gym teacher Mr Walker, played by 12 Years A Slave actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, and rekindles her one-time relationship with Hugh Grant’s Daniel Cleaver.

Chiwetel, 46, was seen in filming scenes last week, meaning only Hugh and Colin Firth – who has a small role in the film as the late Mark Darcy – have yet to be spotted in character.

Renee and Leo were spotted filming together on May 18 in hilarious scenes when Bridget got stuck in a tree in Hampstead Heath.

Rockstar, who works as a park ranger, seemingly comes to her rescue, wearing an all-green uniform.

An onlooker said: ‘Leo and Renee looked like they were having a great time. There was a lot of giggling, they seemed to get along really well.”

The shooting of Bridget Jones follows sheer joy from fans following the announcement of the much-loved character’s return to the big screen.

Renee first appeared as Bridget in 2001’s Bridget Jones’ Diary and returned in 2004’s Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and 2016’s Bridget Jones’ Baby.

The film was officially confirmed last month, with Renée and Hugh Grant’s comebacks made official – after the death of his love rat character Daniel Cleaver was faked in 2016’s third installment.

The fourth film in the franchise – based on the books by Helen Fielding – will be released by Universal Film on the US platform Peacock on Valentine’s Day 2025, while the film will be released in cinemas internationally.

Emma Thompson – who played Doctor Rawlings in the last film, is also back, also starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and White Lotus star Leo Woodall.

Renee has been busy since arriving in London two weeks ago to resume her role as a singleton for the fourth and likely final time.

She spent four days filming at ITV’s studios in White City, west London, where programs such as This Morning and Loose Women are made.

There she met presenters from both shows, including Cat Deeley, who was reportedly ‘super excited’ to see her.

Many studio staff were ‘overwhelmed with excitement’ and desperate to get selfies with the Hollywood star when they realized the film was being shot at their workplace.

Scenes were filmed on the set used by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly for their now defunct show Saturday Night Takeaway, while Loose Women audience members were also asked to stay for the filming of some scenes.

An ITV source said: ‘It was chaos, imagine Bridget coming to work. It was literally a dream come true. The place was absolutely lively. The news spread so quickly, Cat was so excited.”

Bridget’s creator Helen Fielding has also been spotted filming as she prepares to say goodbye to the much-loved character. The film will be released on Valentine’s Day next year.

Last month it was revealed that Bridget’s obsession with losing weight will be ‘downplayed’ in the film, amid fears they could be a bad influence.
