Renee Rapp reveals she was body-shamed while starring in Mean Girls the musical on Broadway in 2019 as she struggled with an eating disorder
Renee Rapp struggled with an eating disorder while playing Regina George on Broadway in Mean Girls the Musical — with comments from the show’s production team and fans making her feel worse about her body.
The 23-year-old blonde beauty, who recently engaged a lawyer to be released from her Sex Lives Of College Girls contract, opened up to The guard about the negative comments she received during her time on Broadway.
“(The Mean Girls musical production team) said nasty things to me about my body,” the Pretty Girls singer revealed.
According to the interview, the body-shaming was so bad that Renee’s parents considered flying to New York City to take their daughter off the show, fearing her declining mental health at the time.
After landing the role of Regina in the Broadway production in 2019, the Everything to Everyone singer left the show a year later.

The Jimmy Award-winning beauty remained candid about her mental health journey, admitting, “Eating disorders don’t just go away and you’re cured, like, ‘Sorry, I can eat again, ha ha!” It’s something for life.’
After starring in the Max hit The Sex Lives of College Girls since the Broadway show, the Talk Too Much singer has looked back on her time on the show with a newfound sense of wisdom.
“I still struggle with[my eating disorder]but at least my parents know I was taken from environments that were really harmful to my illness, which is great and a huge win,” Renee said.
She added: “My generation and the generation that will follow mine is much more open – especially women, non-men, queer people… I think I’ve been given more opportunities than women before me, men and queer women before that. me.’
The talented singer, who just released her debut studio album Snow Angel, bluntly summed up her generation by saying, “This generation is still super mean to each other. But we’re more forthright – and give off less.”
Despite the drama she endured while playing on Broadway, Renee will reprise her role as Regina George in the film adaptation of Mean Girls the Musical.
The future movie star opened up American Weekly about how she felt about Tina Fey’s script for Mean Girls The Musical, saying, “A lot of it is different. Tina (Fey) is such a creative genius and such a creative freak, and so is her partner, Jeff Richmond, who does all the music.”

Renee revealed that her ultimate career goal was to become an EGOT winner one day, adding, “(Fey and Richmond) are so creative, and I really appreciate that they really try to work with young people and people who are up to belong to the current culture. and what happens.’
