Konami's remakes of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater And Silent Hill 2 coming to PlayStation 5 this year, according to a new hype reel released by Sony Interactive Entertainment on Thursday. Neither game had a confirmed release date from publisher Konami, but it looks like both projects will now be released in 2024.
The new version of Snake eaterknown as Metal Gear Solid Delta, is considered by Konami to be a “faithful recreation of the original story and game design,” which “will (evolve) the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience.” Konami also features “unprecedented graphics and immersive sound.” Metal Gear Solid Deltaand based on early footage from the remake, it's certainly visually impressive.
In addition to a PS5 version, Metal Gear Solid Delta is also intended for Windows PC and Xbox Series Metal Gear Solid3's original release on PlayStation 2.
Silent Hill 2 is being remade by developer Bloober Team, the studio behind it The medium and the Layers of Fear games. Bloober Team creative director and lead designer Mateusz Lenart said in 2022 that the studio's remake will “preserve the atmosphere that created it Silent Hill 2 so exceptional, while also modernizing many aspects of the game's overall gameplay.”
The Silent Hill 2 remake is a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive. A PC version is also in development.
Konami has a host of Silent Hill projects in the works, including new NeoBards games (Stille Heuvel f) and Annapurna Interactive and No Code (Silent Hill: Townfall), as well as the ongoing interactive experiment Silent Hill: Ascension and new movie Return to Silent Hill. Release dates for those other unreleased projects are unknown.
