Former University of Houston basketball player Reggie Chaney has passed away at the age of 23.
The former college hoops star passed away Monday night, but a cause of death was not immediately known.
Chaney was a member of the Arkansas Razorbacks for two seasons before transferring to the University of Houston, where he played for three seasons.
According to the newspaper, he is said to be joining AE Psychiko, a professional basketball team in Greece Houston Chronicle.
The Tulsa, Oklahoma native was named the American Athletic Conference’s Sixth Man of the Year last season — his last with the Cougars.

He was also a member of the University of Houston team that advanced to the NCAA Final Four in 2021.
Despite a number of injuries, Chaney played more than 100 games for the University of Houston.
Chaney averaged 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game for Houston in his three seasons with the program before graduating in May with a liberal studies degree.
In a statement to Whole Hog SportsRazorbacks head coach Eric Musselman said the “men’s basketball family is devastated to hear of the loss of Reggie Chaney.”

“He was a relentless worker and loved by his coaches and teammates. His family is in our thoughts and prayers,” Musselman said.
“Two words that describe Reggie ‘Always reliable,'” former Houston teammate Justin Gorham wrote on Twitter. “No matter the situation, Reg will give his 110%. Glad I got the chance to work with him, without Reg we won’t accomplish half of the things we did. Rest in peace brother LOVE.”
Another former teammate Mason Jones also shared a tribute, posting: “Please give Reggie his flowers…if only y’all knew what he really went through…just a kid from Tulsa…I’m going to miss you brother.. .real life brothera, roommate and one of the realest guys you’ll ever meet!’
