Reese Witherspoon shares a cheerful smile with son Deacon during ‘last days of summer’… as she reflects on ‘changes’ since Jim Toth divorce

Reese Witherspoon shared a cheery smile as she enjoyed “the last days of summer” with her family in a new Instagram post uploaded Wednesday.

The Legally Blonde actress, 47, who recently promoted fall dresses from her own clothing brand Draper James, captioned her latest message to her 29.6 million followers: “Soaking up the last days of summer.”

In the first photo, the mother of three struck a pose while sitting outside on a wooden porch. She put on a white tank top and white shorts to keep cool in the hot temperatures.

She slipped into a pair of open-toed, white strappy sandals and added an assortment of colorful beaded necklaces for a stylish flare.

The star also opted for a pair of mini earrings with gold hoops and wore shades of black to shield her eyes from the blazing sun.

Reese’s blonde locks were parted in the middle and fell naturally past her shoulders, leaving her bangs to fall gently on her forehead.

In another image, the A-lister posed for an adorable selfie with her son Deacon, 19, who she shares with ex, Ryan Phillippe. During their marriage from 1999 to 2008, the couple also welcomed daughter Ava, 23.

In an instant, the mother and son duo were seen sitting on a step as they flashed a small smile to the camera.

The beauty also took another selfie with her youngest child and son, Tennessee, 10, who she shares with ex-husband, Jim Toth.

The two paused for the quick photo as the scenic ocean stretched out behind them with the sun setting on the horizon.

The Cruel Intentions actress then uploaded a close-up photo of a butterfly resting on a layer of pebbles.

To close out the Instagram carousel, Witherspoon added a quote from poet and artist Cleo Wade, as she reflected on the changes in her life since her divorce from Jim Toth.

“Life will change you or you can change with life. We are moving. Everything we know is always in motion. We can struggle with this energy or we can dance with it. The choice is entirely yours.’

Reese and Jim were first romantically linked in 2010 and got engaged later that same year in December.

The former couple tied the knot in a romantic and intimate backyard wedding in March 2011. When she said yes, Toth became the stepfather to Reese’s children from her first marriage and the couple welcomed son, Tennessee.

However, earlier this year in March, just days before their 12th wedding anniversary, the actress and former CAA agent released a joint statement on Instagram announcing their shock split.

At the time, the two said: “We have personal news to share… It is with great care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce.

“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and move forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for all we have created together. Our number one priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter.”

Finally, Reese and Toth add, “These things are never easy and deeply personal. We really appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”

Following the divorce news, a source said People“Reese is clearly disappointed and upset. They love Tennessee and this is their focus. They remain co-parenting amicably. There’s no drama.’

Earlier this month, the former couple reached a divorce settlement and will continue to co-parent their 10-year-old son.

In July, Reese spoke out about the split during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar and admitted that she took time to slow down in her fast-paced life.

“My brain has been working non-stop, and just life changing and running a business. But that’s okay. I do believe that creativity is infinite and you’re just looking for that next bit of inspiration, so if you’re going through a bit of a slowdown, that’s okay,” she explained.

She then thought about releasing the joint statement on Instagram. “When I was divorced before, the tabloid media had to tell people how I was feeling or how I was processing, and it felt very out of control.”

The Big Little Lies actress added: ‘It feels much more authentic to be able to say things in my own voice and not let someone else dictate what happens.

‘Then there is of course speculation, but I can’t control that. All I can do is be my most honest, open-hearted self and be vulnerable. It’s a vulnerable time for me.’

Reese seems to be leaving the past behind and looking positively at the changes in her life and future.

While focusing on her own brand, Draper James, the star recently attended a Taylor Swift concert in Nashville and was joined by her daughter, Ava.

Toth has also reportedly moved on since the divorce and was romantically linked to a new person in July. “Jim was staying with a new girlfriend in Costa Rica’s Sendero Nosara,” a source told People at the time.

“They seemed to be staying in a suite and they looked very happy, just chilling and enjoying that pura vida vibe. It was certainly romantic.’

Witherspoon will also appear alongside Jennifer Aniston in the upcoming third season of The Morning Show, which will air September 13 on Apple TV+.
