Reese Witherspoon Reveals She Forgot Her Lines When Reading With Robert De Niro For Cape Fear At 14

Reese Witherspoon revealed that one of her first auditions as a teenager was with Oscar winner Robert De Niro.

The 46-year-old actress appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday in a little black dress in which she recalled her audition for the 1991 Martin Scorsese film Cape Fear when she was 14 years old.

“I remember one of the first auditions I ever had was with Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese for a movie called Cape Fear,” Reese said.

The Big Little Lies star added: ‘I didn’t get it. I’m not in that movie because I got really scared when I walked into the room; I didn’t know who Robert De Niro was, so he was standing outside talking to the receptionist, and she said, “You know he’s the greatest actor of our time, right?”

This caused 14-year-old Reese to become very nervous and forget her lines.

He remembered that audition: Reese explained that he had to finish the lines for her and when she auditioned for him again ten years later, he said, ‘I remember you; you are the one who couldn’t say the word’

She explained: ‘He had to finish the lines for me. And then I auditioned for him ten years later, and I was like, “He’s never going to remember that I botched that audition,” and he was like, “I remember you; you’re the one who couldn’t say the word.” “‘

The Legally Blonde star also revealed that as a teenager, she used to park Denzel Washington’s Porsche as part of a school internship.

‘Yeah. I actually interned on a movie that Denzel Washington starred in called Devil In A Blue Dress,” Reese told Jimmy, 55, referencing the 1995 neo-noir thriller.

Reese said: ‘I had to answer the phone. ”Devil in blue dress. Devil in blue dress”. And then every time Denzel came in, he had to park his Porsche.

‘Really?’ Jimmy asked.
