Reed’s Big Give charity raises record £45 million
The Big Give, a Christmas charity led by recruitment boss James Reed, has surpassed Children In Need and Comic Relief as the biggest fundraiser of 2024.
In the week before December 10, donations of £45 million poured in from 120,000 members of the public.
This was an increase of 35 percent on last year’s record-breaking £33 million.
The proceeds included £20 million in ‘matching funds’ from philanthropists, foundations and companies, which pledged to match contributions from ordinary donors.

James Reed, head of employment agency Reed, said: ‘The record amount has been raised despite many people still feeling pressure from the cost of living crisis.
‘We had hoped to beat last year’s record number, but to do so by such a margin is extraordinary.
“I would like to thank everyone who chose one of more than 1,250 charities to support, and our generous funding champions who matched these donations.”
The Big Give aims to raise £1 billion by the end of the decade.
