A bride has shared her shock over the ‘disaster’ cake her mother’s ‘professional baker’ friend made for her wedding.

The Katoomba woman said her mother “pressurized” her to get a cake from her friend, who she said was a pro baker and ordered a “two-tier naked cake”, but she was devastated from when she saw the “crumbling atrocity” that was being committed.

She later found out that the girlfriend only baked as a hobby, knocking out $500 at the last minute for one more dessert on top of a series of other disasters surrounding her special day.

“My mother pressured me to have my cake made by her boyfriend, who is apparently a professional baker. They just sent me this photo of the process. Suffice it to say it’s not what I ordered,” the newlywed said in a post on Reddit.

She showed her the picture she had been given of the trail cake, a badly frozen two-tier cake with no decorations.

“I got my mom to admit that her friend isn’t much of a pro – this is literally cake mix in a box and ready-made frosting. She thinks it would look good if we add flowers,” the stressed bride added.

Her mother confessed to lying, saying that her friend had made “some cakes for her grandchildren” before.

Hundreds responded to the comments expressing their outrage at the shoddy pie job, with one calling it a “monstrousness.”

“Run, don’t walk, to your nearest bakery and order a wedding cake, because this… this isn’t it,” they wrote.

‘What the hell is this! Thank goodness you got the test so you didn’t get three levels of whatever this is on your wedding day,” said a second.

The cake is one of the many mishaps the bride faces as her wedding approaches. She had to make 'drastic changes' to her dress and her father was injured in an accident, so he may not make it

“I’ve tried to decorate and I’m not good at it. And even I can make it look better. That’s terrible,” a third added.

The bride said her mom is “doubling down” and insisting the cake will look good decorated with flowers, but she’s looking for alternative options.

“I’m glad we can laugh about it a bit, but to be honest, I’m panicking a bit,” she said.

“I’m going to call some bakeries today to find out what to do – I didn’t answer my mom who sent me the picture because all I can say is ‘wtf’.”
