Woke Reddit moderators have said they will ban any users who misinterpret the non-binary “And Just Like That” character Che Diaz.
The character, played by Sara Ramirez in the Sex and the City reboot, is an oddball stand-up comedian who plays a central role as the iconic character Miranda explores her sexuality.
Moderators have now blocked a Reddit form that publishes a warning that bans will be issued for misinterpreting the star.
In a closed post shared on the ‘And Just Like That’ Reddit page, it said: ‘Che and Sara use they/those pronouns.
“This show aired over a year ago, and while we will of course tolerate the occasional mistake and only remove misleading comments, please note that repeated violations will result in a ban.

Reddit now allows us to view a log of deleted comments for each user, so it’s much easier to review repeat violations.
Furthermore, referring to trans identities as ‘fantasy’, ‘not real’ or the suggestion that they don’t exist will lead to an immediate ban.

In the new spin-off, Ramirez stars alongside Cynthia Nixon in her iconic role Miranda, where the two embark on a surprise affair.
Che’s relationship with Miranda eventually becomes the catalyst for her split from longtime husband Steve (David Eigenberg), upsetting many loyal fans.
Earlier this week, journalist Brock Colyar mocked Ramirez for appearing to have many of the same opinions as the character they play, without any sense of irony.
Colyar wrote, “Ramírez similarly uses words like trauma, privilege, and social constructs to advance their different points. It may feel natural to make such comparisons in your head, but Ramírez heads them off and assures me, “I’m an actor. I am not the characters I play. I’m not Che Diaz.”
Ramirez has played several gender non-conforming characters in the past and had starring roles on popular shows including Grey’s Anatomy and Madam Secretary.
But their role in And Just Like That led to criticism from some viewers.
After meeting in New York’s Central Park, a regular haunt for the show’s characters, Colyar said Ramirez had a style very similar to her controversial on-screen role.

Notably, Ramirez’s character introduces himself as a “queer nonbinary Mexican-Irish diva” — the same description the actor uses in his Instagram bio.
When confronted with criticisms of their character, Ramirez strongly resists and tells the journalist that those critics are morally inferior.
Colyar wrote, “Ramírez waves the side-eyes on Che and says, ‘Anyone who takes advantage of the patriarchy is going to have a problem with Che Diaz.”
Earlier this year, Ramirez again criticized their character, insisting that negative reactions from viewers have not affected her.
“I am very aware of the hate that exists online,” she told The New York Times. “But I have to protect my own sanity and my own artistry.”
Speaking of blocking out the negativity and focusing on the character and the show, Ramírez explained, “And that’s much more important to me because I’m a real human being.”
“I am really proud of the representation we have created. We’ve built a character that’s human, that’s imperfect, that’s complex, that’s not here to be liked, that’s not here for anyone’s approval.
“They’re here to be themselves.”
