A bride-to-be deliberately chose a bridesmaid dress that her 'fat' and 'insecure' sister-in-law would not like, hoping that it would not take place again during the wedding.
The bride explained that dress shopping has been a “nightmare” due to her bridesmaid's self-doubt and body image issues.
On Reddit, the woman claimed she could never find a dress they all agreed on, so she instead gave them two options: one that can be styled in different ways but they have to pay for, or an outfit that bride chooses and pays. .
Everyone except her sister-in-law voted for the latter, so the bride went for a 'revealing' blue strapless dress design with a small slit, knowing it wouldn't bode well with her sister-in-law.
'My husband-to-be has a sister, let's call her Mia. Now things aren't getting along very well between Mia and I. I'm polite, but I wouldn't say we're friends. “I felt I was forced by his family to make her a bridesmaid or she will be sad,” the bride said.

'I'm going to be blunt, Mia is fat and very insecure. This has turned bridesmaid dress shopping into a nightmare. I've never been able to find anything she wants.'
So she came up with the voting system and the majority ruled in favor of the second option, where the bride paid for a dress she liked.
'I really enjoyed it and I knew Mia would have a problem with it. “I sent a photo to all the bridesmaids and confirmed the correct size before ordering,” she continued.
'It exploded here. Mia was angry that I had chosen a revealing dress. This resulted in an argument where she thought I was a huge jerk and I told her she could resign if she had any problems with the dress.'

The bride claimed her sister-in-law was “trying to get the family on her side,” despite others knowing how hard it was to find something everyone wanted.
Despite the controversial decision, most people on Reddit sided with the bride, saying the bridesmaid was acting “childish.”
“Most importantly, she didn't even choose her to be a bridesmaid, she's being forced to involve someone she didn't choose,” one person wrote.
Another said: 'You were told Mia was going to be a bridesmaid and would be put in an awkward position by your mother-in-law and sister-in-law. They ambushed you at a family gathering where they knew you would be outnumbered if you objected. She can resign or make a deal. Her insecurities are not your problem.”
Although others took a different approach.
“You chose the dress for the sole purpose of forcing her to drop out. If you don't want her as a bridesmaid, use your big girl words. Don't act like a mean girl in high school,” one person wrote.
“I think (you) handled the situation in an immature and passive-aggressive manner,” said another.
“I don't think her only problem with Mia is that she's big. Mia sounds like she was an awkward shopping diva.”
