Red, White and Royal Blue sequels in the works at Prime Video

A continuation on Red, white and royal blue is in the works for Prime Video. Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez both reprise their roles as Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz, while Matthew López, director and writer of the first film, returns to write the script. And for anyone worried that the sequel might not capture the spirit of the book, don’t worry: author Casey McQuiston will also be co-writing the script.

Based on the immensely popular novel of the same name, Red, white and royal blue follows a fictional prince of England and the son of the American president who fall in love after some great tension between rivals, friends and friends. The film adaptation changes a few details, but is otherwise a fairly faithful representation of the story that has charmed many hardcore fans of the book.

There’s no release date or plot details for the sequel, but if you’re in the mood for a rom-com in the meantime, Prime Video’s latest is: The idea of you, also starring Galitzine (this time alongside Anne Hathaway). And if you’re specifically hungry for more queer rom-coms, McQuiston’s latest book, The Pairingcomes out on August 6.
