Red Sox and Rockies RAGE in Denver: Colorado’s Cal Quantrill appears to tell Boston’s Reese McGuire ‘you j***** off in a f***ing parking lot’ four years after catcher’s indecent exposure charge
The Red Sox and Rockies nearly clashed in Denver on Wednesday after the 2020 arrest of a Boston player for indecent exposure on the field came up during Colorado’s 20-7 win.
The tension rose in the fourth inning when Boston’s Reese McGuire hit a fly ball to end the inning.
As McGuire jogged down the first base line, Colorado starter Cal Quantrill pumped his fist, prompting a response from McGuire. They had to be separated as both the benches and bullpens rushed the field, but the situation calmed down without anyone being ejected.
Later, a video surfaced online showing Quantrill taunting McGuire by yelling, “You jerked off in the fucking parking lot, you dumb son of a bitch.”
As a member of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2020, McGuire was arrested for indecent exposure during spring training after he was allegedly caught masturbating in his car while parked in a Dollar Tree parking lot in Florida. He ultimately pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery and paid a $500 fine.

Coincidentally, Quantrill is the son of former New York Yankees reliever Paul Quantrill, who was involved in a brawl with the Red Sox exactly 20 years ago on Wednesday. That brawl is best known for Boston catcher Jason Varitek punching New York’s Alex Rodriguez during a confrontation at home plate.
It cooled down on Wednesday, but there were no incidents and no people were evicted from the area.
Brenton Doyle hit his first career grand slam, Ezequiel Tovar and Jacob Stallings homered and had three hits each, and Colorado beat Boston by 13 runs.
Ryan McMahon also hit a home run, Brendan Rodgers had four hits and Kris Bryant and Michael Toglia had three for Colorado, which tied the franchise’s highest total. The 21 hits were a season record.
Jarren Duran hit a home run, a triple and a single, Rafael Devers had three hits, Ceddanne Rafaela had two hits and infielder Dominic Smith pitched an errorless eighth inning for the Red Sox.
Tovar extended his hitting streak to 11 games with his 17th homer early in the first inning off right-hander Nick Pivetta. Colorado scored two more runs in the inning on Rodgers’ double to left-center.

Boston got a run back in the second inning when McGuire made a fielding error and Devers scored, but the Rockies extended the lead to 5-1 with two runs in the final inning.
Stallings hit a three-run home run in the third inning, his fifth of the season, to make it 8-1.
Pivetta (4-7) allowed 10 hits and eight runs (seven earned) in 2 2/3 innings.
The Rockies opened the ball in the fourth inning with McMahon’s two-run homer, his 15th, and Toglia’s two-run double.
Duran hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, his 13th of the season. Boston had two runners on base in the sixth before Quantrill got Romy Gonzalez to hit an inning-ending double play.
Quantrill (7-7) allowed three runs on six hits in six innings.
Doyle capped a six-run sixth with his grand slam — his 17th homer of the season and 10th this month. Colorado has hit four grand slams this season.
McGuire’s arrest in 2020 appeared to temporarily jeopardize his once promising career.
A witness called police in Dunedin, Florida on Friday to report that the then-24-year-old was “sitting and masturbating in a white Mercedes SUV in the parking lot,” according to an incident report provided to the Daily Mail. The team trains in Dunedin.
McGuire was charged with exposure of sexual organs.
“The vehicle had a completely clear tint and was being driven by a tall white male,” the officer’s report said. “As I approached the vehicle … I could clearly see that the male was naked from the waist down.
“The bottom of the suspect’s shirt barely covered his genitals and his sweatpants were around his ankles. The suspect, later identified by his Washington Driver’s License as Reese Jackson McGuire, saw sheriff’s deputies approaching his vehicle and quickly attempted to pull his pants back up.”

McGuire immediately apologized and denied nothing, police said.
“Reese was instructed to change clothes and then exit the vehicle,” the report said.
As Reese exited through the driver’s door, he repeatedly said, “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, this is really embarrassing.”
“I asked Reese why his pants were down and he said, ‘I really shouldn’t have done that.’”
Police also asked McGuire how he parked in that particular shopping center.
McGuire, who said he lives nearby, did not have a clear answer.
“After lunch, Reese stated that he came to the parking lot and began ‘loitering,'” the report states. “I asked Reese why he came to this parking lot in particular. Reese stated that he did not know, it just seemed like a good spot. I pointed out the high volume of foot traffic and vehicles in and around the entire parking lot and Reese acknowledged this.”
Police discovered the pornographic video when McGuire unlocked his phone to give officers the address where he was staying during spring training.
