Red alert as prisoner escapes custody and flees into the Outback – as cops release mugshots

Police have desperately urged people to keep an eye out for a prisoner who escaped from custody in the Outback, but not to approach him.

Zac Riley, 24, was last seen at a corrections facility attached to Broken Hill Local Court in far western NSW about 1pm on Monday.

Riley is described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, thin build, 170-175cm tall, with black hair, black beard and moustache.

Officers from the Barrier Police District are leading the investigation to find him and put him back behind bars.

Anyone who sees Riley has been warned not to approach him but to call authorities immediately on 000.
