Recast of Coronation Street character after 11 years in the soap ahead of a new storyline
A Coronation Street character has been recast after 11 years on the soap in anticipation of an all-new storyline.
Ruby Dobbs, daughter of Tyrone and Fizz, has been played by actress Macy Alabi since the character’s birth in September 2012.
She will be replaced by show newcomer Billie Naylor, with show spoilers showing her first scenes, airing next week.
Macy has now left her role on the soap as she will start high school later this year, according to Digital spy.
In the next few scenes, Ruby prepares for the Little Big Shotz summer spectacle at the community center, competing against her older sister Hope for the lead role.

After rehearsals, Glenda Shuttleworth announces that Ruby landed the part, but her older sister is unimpressed.
It comes after Fiz Stape’s tearful farewell from the soap as her character left for Norwich while changing careers.
The character (played by Jennie McAlpine) has said an emotional goodbye to her girls Hope and Ruby, as well as husband Tyrone Dobbs.
But in reality, the storyline marks the temporary exit for actress Jennie, 38, who previously revealed this yes that she was expecting her third child.
In the scenes, Beth Sutherland told Stephen Reid that she is interested in the new role of Underworld supervisor in Norwich.
However, in the midst of Beth’s marital problems with husband Kirk Sutherland, Fiz is forced to tell her boyfriend that Kirk clearly misses her.
Later, Stephen called Fiz into the office and offered her the supervisor job in Norwich.
As an extra incentive, he told her that the salary is double what she now earns.

After telling husband Tyrone about the job offer, he encourages her to go for it.
Later, with her decision made, Fiz packed her bags and prepared to start her new role in Norwich.
At the factory, her friends Izzy Armstrong and Kirk were seen lending their support and wishing her luck with the job.
Meanwhile, Tyrone’s grandmother Evelyn Plummer and Fiz’s girls Hope and Ruby waved the train driver off as she made her way to the station with Tyrone.
