Rebel Wilson opens up about the shocking reason she didn’t have her first romantic relationship until she was 40.
The 44-year-old Bridesmaids star made the surprising confession on an episode of Call Her Daddy podcastand admits that she once valued her career over love.
“I’m quite a late bloomer when it comes to love. My first real relationship was when I was 35. In my 20s I never dated anyone, not a single person,” she told host Alex Cooper.
“I literally haven’t been on any dates. It wasn’t until I became a Hollywood actress that I started to mellow out.”
The Sydney-born star explained that at the time she believed a relationship would distract her from her career in the film industry, so she put love aside.
“It’s really hard to make it in the entertainment industry, especially if you’re a nobody from Australia. I thought if I was in a relationship it wouldn’t help my career.”
Rebel added that her single-minded focus helped her break into show business. When she started dating in 2015, she was already an established actress.
However, Rebel admitted that in hindsight she would have done things differently.

“It worked, but I made sacrifices. I had no social or love life.”
Luckily, Rebel eventually found love with 40-year-old American fashion designer Ramona Agruma and the couple got engaged last year after going official on Instagram in 2022.
In May, Rebel told Agruma about her beautiful wedding plans and opened up about the challenges she faced with dating before meeting her partner.

Speaking to Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard on ITV magazine, she revealed she plans to marry Ramona, with whom she has a 20-month-old daughter, Royce Lillian, next year. They are likely to get married on the beach.
Rebel came out as queer in June 2022, posting on Instagram: āI thought I was looking for a Disney princeā¦ but maybe all I needed was a Disney princessā ā something referenced in the chat.
The star, who revealed she lost her virginity at the age of 35, recalls how she challenged herself to date 50 men before falling in love with one woman.
About her wedding she said: ‘It’s probably next year. I have a feeling it’s going to be a beach wedding, but I just don’t know which beach!’
