Rebel Wilson reveals her late father threatened to ‘choke’ and ‘throttle’ her during violent outburst as she recalls childhood physical abuse in explosive new memoir

Rebel Wilson has opened up about the physical abuse she suffered at the hands of her father, including an incident where he threatened to ‘choke and strangle’ her.

The Pitch Perfect star, 44, has shared numerous details about her private life in her explosive new memoir Rebel Rising.

In the book, Rebel remembered her father Warwick, who died in 2013 and had a violent outburst when, as a 12-year-old, she begged him to buy her a Slurpee.

The pair were in the car with Rebel’s sister Liberty when their father lost his patience after they kept asking him to buy them drinks.

Rebel claimed her father grabbed her leg and shouted at her to shut up before saying he would ‘strangle’ her, ‘kill her’ and ‘strangle’ her if she said one more thing.

She wrote: ‘He turns around violently, as if he wanted to strangle me every now and then. He is furious. It’s like a switch has been turned on.’

Rebel claimed that she never dared to ask her father to buy her a Slurpee again and only asked her mother Sue.

The actress recalled another incident during her childhood, when her father reportedly punched her in the face after he thought she had wet the bed.

Rebel told how she and Liberty had moisturized their faces with washcloths in bed to try to cool down on a particularly hot night.

The Bridesmaids star came up with the idea of wetting both mattresses in the hope that this would help them cool down faster.

But when their father entered their bedroom, he thought the couple had wet the bed.

Rebel said he immediately lost his temper and became a “red-headed giant.”

She wrote: ‘He brings his palm to his cheek and hits me with the full force of a strong, stocky grown man as I lie there on the wet mattress. Wrap. Wrap. Wrap.”

Rebel noted that her father also hit Liberty, but hit her the hardest because she was older and had to be “responsible.”

“We have red marks on our arms and legs where we tried to defend ourselves from the blows,” she added.

Warwick Wilson, a professional dog handler, died of a heart attack aged 62 while Rebel was filming US sitcom Super Fun Night.

Rebel’s memoir has made headlines due to her alleged experience working with Sacha Baron Cohen on the 2016 film Grimsby.

She claimed that on the set of the comedy, Sacha would ask her to undress for scenes despite her ‘no nudity’ rule, in a series of claims that Sacha has strenuously denied and which she says are contradicted by evidence.

In a memoir passage obtained by People magazineshe shockingly claimed that Sacha asked her to ‘stick her finger up his ass’ because he thought it would make for a funny scene in the film, claiming that ‘it felt like (he) had sexually harassed me’.

Rebel also claimed that the alleged inappropriate experience with the Borat actor led to stress eating.

The Pitch Perfect star recalled how she felt “completely disrespected, which led to me treating myself with even more disrespect by eating in an extremely unhealthy way.”

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Sacha’s representative for further comment.

Rebel played Sacha’s on-screen girlfriend in the Louis Leterrier-directed 2016 film and has made a series of allegations about her awkward experience during filming.

Rebel claimed that during filming, Sacha repeatedly “mentioned that he wanted me to get naked in a future scene,” which she said was “in no way essential” to the film’s plot.

In her book, released in the US on Tuesday, she wrote: ‘It felt like every time I spoke to SBC he said he wanted me to get naked in a future scene. I thought: ‘Ha, I don’t do nudity, Sacha.’

Rebel claimed that she was allegedly called in by a product assistant for an extra scene during filming in Cape Town, South Africa.

Rebel said, ‘Okay, we’re going to film this extra scene,'” SBC says. “Then he pulls down his pants,” SBC says very matter-of-factly: “Okay, now I want you to stick your finger in my ass.” And I’m like, ‘What?? … No!!”

Rebel claimed she was shocked and wanted to get out, adding: ‘I was scared now. I wanted to get out of there, so I finally compromised: I hit him on the butt and improvised a few lines as a character.”

The Bridesmaids actress also claimed that she only agreed to a sex scene with Sacha after several rewrites and recalled telling producers that she would not promote the film before its release.

In her memoir, Rebel (pictured in 2016) also claims that the alleged inappropriate experience with the Borat actor led her to disordered eating.

Several never-before-seen clips from the film that didn’t make it into the final cut were obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com and show the characters of Rebel and Sarah using a mobile phone to film themselves getting intimate.

According to those close to Sacha, director Louis Leterrier had to discuss nudity or sex scenes with Rebel before they were shot. They say she agreed to the scene.

They also say the cell phone was used because the film called for Rebel and Sacha’s characters Dawn and Nobby to use an iPhone to film themselves having sex.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, Rebel doubled down on Sacha’s description in her book as an ‘a**hole’.

“It’s a piece of shit to release footage of part of that disgusting episode while leaving out everything that came before it, including my shocked refusal to stick my finger up SBC’s ass,” she said.

“This couldn’t possibly have been for the film as director Louis Leterrier wasn’t even present,” she claimed.

“What this edited video shows is what I had to do to get out of the room, as written in Rebel Rising. Releasing unauthorized and misleading behind-the-scenes videos without my consent is SBC’s latest way to bully and gaslight me.”

Sacha has strongly denied ever assaulting Rebel or pressuring her to be naked in the film.

A spokesperson for Sacha said: ‘While we recognize the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers. Grimsby.’

Sacha’s team also provided nine anonymous statements from crew members supporting the claim that the scene was scripted.
