Rebel Wilson cancels Australian book tour after the actress accused Sacha Baron Cohen of harassment in bombshell memoir

Rebel Wilson has canceled her Australian book tour, which was planned to promote her tell-all memoir Rebel Rising.

The 44-year-old actress was scheduled to host an event in Brisbane on May 12 and in Melbourne on May 14.

She revealed that her book will be available in the country on May 8, but said she “cannot organize book events due to a changing work schedule.”

‘I’m really pleased that British and Australian readers can finally read Rebel Rising. The new release date in the UK is April 25 and in Australia May 8,” she wrote on Instagram.

‘This is my full story – from childhood to the birth of my beautiful daughter. I hope you enjoy it.’

“Unfortunately, I can’t do the in-person book events in Australia right now due to my changing work schedule.”

It is expected that all ticket holders will be notified and refunds will be processed.

Earlier this month, Rebel revealed that sales of her highly anticipated tell-all memoir in Australia had been postponed indefinitely.

Buyers who tried to get the book on Amazon were told that the title was “currently unavailable” and that “we don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.”

Multiple fans online had reported that sites like Booktopia had canceled orders of the book, and local stores like Big W and Dymocks have also refunded existing pre-orders.

It comes after Rebel claimed her alleged experience with Sacha Baron Cohen led to an eating disorder in her new memoir.

She claimed that on the set of 2016 comedy The Brothers Grimsby, Sacha would ask her to undress for scenes despite her ‘no nudity’ rule, in a series of claims that Sacha has vehemently denied and which she says are contradicted by evidence .

Rebel also claimed that the alleged inappropriate experience with the Borat actor led to an eating disorder, as she detailed the “disrespect” she felt.

The Pitch Perfect star recalled how she felt “completely disrespected, which led to me treating myself with even more disrespect by eating in an extremely unhealthy way.”

Ny Breaking Australia has contacted Sacha’s representative for further comment.

Rebel played Sacha’s on-screen girlfriend in the Louis Leterrier-directed 2016 film and has made a series of allegations about her awkward experience during filming.

Rebel claimed that during filming, Sacha repeatedly “mentioned that he wanted me to get naked in a future scene,” which she said was “in no way essential” to the film’s plot.

In her book, released in the US, she wrote: ‘It felt like every time I spoke to SBC he said he wanted me to get naked in a future scene. I thought: ‘Ha, I don’t do nudity, Sacha.’

Rebel claimed that she was allegedly called in by a product assistant for an extra scene during filming in Cape Town, South Africa.

Rebel said, ‘Okay, we’re going to film this extra scene,'” SBC says. “Then he pulls down his pants,” SBC says very matter-of-factly: “Okay, now I want you to stick your finger in my ass.” And I’m like, ‘What?? … No!!”

Rebel claimed she was shocked and wanted to get out, adding: ‘I was scared now. I wanted to get out of there, so I finally compromised: I knocked him on the butt and improvised a few lines as a character.”

The Bridesmaids actress also claimed that she only agreed to a sex scene with Sacha after several rewrites and recalled telling producers that she would not promote the film before its release.

However, newly emerged footage of the sex scene in the 2016 film appears to show that the action was part of the script and that the actress agreed to the scene.

Several never-before-seen clips from the film that didn’t make it into the final cut were obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com and show the characters of Rebel and Sarah using a mobile phone to film themselves getting intimate.

In the clips, Rebel can be heard discussing the scene while standing on camera, but out of character, telling Sacha, “I’ll do a slap [of your butt] and I’ll take a – through the crack,” to which he responds, “It’s almost like you’re going to ram your fingers in,” prompting her to answer “yes.”

According to those close to Sacha, director Louis Leterrier had to discuss nudity or sex scenes with Wilson before they were shot. They say she agreed to the scene.

They also say the cell phone was used because the film called for Rebel and Sacha’s characters Dawn and Nobby to use an iPhone to film themselves having sex.

However, in a statement to DailyMail.com, Rebel doubled down on her book’s description of Sacha as an ‘a**hole’.

“It’s a piece of shit to release footage of part of that disgusting episode while leaving out everything that came before it, including my shocked refusal to stick my finger up SBC’s ass,” she said.

“This couldn’t possibly have been for the film as director Louis Leterrier wasn’t even present,” she claimed.

“What this edited video shows is what I had to do to get out of the room, as written in Rebel Rising. Releasing unauthorized and misleading behind-the-scenes videos without my consent is SBC’s latest way to bully and gaslight me.”

Sacha has strongly denied ever assaulting Rebel or pressuring her to be naked in the film.

A spokesperson for Sacha said: ‘While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers. Grimsby.’

Sacha’s team also provided nine anonymous statements from crew members supporting the claim that the scene was scripted.
