Rebecca Minkoff’s RHONY castmates rally around her as they film scenes for the show’s new season – after the fashion designer sparked backlash from fans for being a Scientologist

Rebecca Minkoff’s Real Housewives of New York City castmates are showing their support for the fashion designer after criticism of her connection to the Church of Scientology.

The 43-year-old, a high-level Scientologist, was pictured in a sprinter van with some of her new co-stars as they filmed a ‘gal’s trip’ for the show’s upcoming 17th season.

A photo of the fun moment was shared by Erin Lichy on social media.

Rebecca sat in the back of the van with Brynn Whitfield, while Erin sat in the front seat, sandwiched between Ubah Hassan and Jenna Lyons.

The group seemed to have an incredible time filming, with Jenna and Erin both giggling and smiling in the footage.

Rebecca later shared a short video of herself modeling her outfit for the girl’s trip, which received enthusiastic responses from both Erin and Sai De Silva.

It comes as Rebecca has received some backlash from fans after Ny Breaking.com exposed her deep ties to Scientology.

Not only are the fashionista and her entire family long-time church members and major donors, her father was also involved in the tragic death of Lisa McPherson.

A number of RHONY fans have expressed their disappointment over Minkoff’s participation in the new season, with one writing, “please don’t cast a Scientologist!”

Another wrote, “I know many are excited about Rebecca Minkoff joining #RHONY but not me. She’s a well-known Scientologist…’

However, some viewers have expressed excitement about a potentially juicy storyline involving the controversial church.

“Streets trying to ‘expose’ Rebecca Minkoff because she’s a Scientologist isn’t literally why I’m going to punch her,” one fan said.

“Regardless of her Scientology cult, I tune out. Brynn or Ubah better question her about it,” said another.

While fans are undoubtedly expecting an explosive Scientology subplot next season, they may be out of luck.

According to Hollywood by Janet CharltonMinkoff has a deal with producers that none of her castmates can bring up Scientology on camera unless she brings it up first.

If that’s true, viewers may have to settle for enjoying Minkoff’s impeccable wardrobe instead of delving into her personal life.

Bravo has already given fellow fashion designer and Real Housewife Jenna Lyon special privileges to keep her relationship with partner Cass Bird off the show.

“I’m in a relationship, but I don’t want to mention her name,” Lyons told the station New York Times.

‘I want to keep her out of the press. That’s my promise to her. It’s off the table. I participated in this process. She didn’t do it.’
