“Whether someone is critical of it or not, whether they like other people using it or not, it’s here, it’s going to happen, it’s a good thing — but we have to learn how to use it.”

Discussing the stigma felt by users of the drug, he insisted, “Don’t make people feel bad about it.” If someone is taking Ozempic, talk to them about it and make them feel good about it.”

On the alleged prevalence of ‘Ozempic shaming’, he doubled down: ‘I think we should stop immediately… We should share our experiences – we learn as the patients learn what the side effects really are.

‘It is very important that we celebrate that we actually have a breakthrough in the treatment of obesity. It’s a really exciting time, but also a very scary time.’

He explained that Ozempic and similar drugs like Mounjaro and Wegovy “are going to change the nature of our body, and what happens to our physiology.”

‘It’s Botox, liposuction, breast augmentation, facelifts – pput it all together, and you have a drug that not only makes people look and feel better – it also treats the leading risk factor for heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

“So this is an incredibly powerful positive thing. That’s really the most important, I think, medical breakthrough in history.”

Ozempic entered the market in 2019, while knowledge of the drug and its effectiveness went mainstream earlier this year after a New York magazine cover story on the subject.

The drug has since become the source of much controversy, scandal, and speculation about which celebrities may or may not have relied on it to aid their weight loss — while several users have come forward to expose the horrific side effects they experienced while taking it. from the.

One woman, Emily Wright, 38, a teacher from Toronto, Canada, told CNN she had taken Ozempic for four years before being diagnosed with gastroparesis, which has now caused her to vomit so often that she has had to quit her job.

You feel so sick.’

It was revealed earlier this month that the drug giants behind obesity drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro are being sued over claims the drugs caused stomach paralysis.

Personal injury firm Morgan & Morgan took up the case on behalf of a 44-year-old Louisiana woman with diabetes who lost weight while taking the drugs, only to later suffer severe stomach paralysis characterized by vomiting so violent that she lost several teeth and required multiple trips to the hospital.

The lawsuit against Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk, who make Mounjaro and Ozempic, respectively, alleges that the companies failed to warn consumers about the risk of gastroparesis, or paralysis of the stomach.
