Real reason Chris Rock ‘stormed off’ stage at billionaire’s holiday party
Chris Rock declined to continue his surprise comedy set at a billionaire’s party after noticing children in the audience and feeling uncomfortable exposing them to his crude content.
The comedian, 59, stunned VIP partygoers when he reportedly ‘stormed out’ just minutes after taking the stage at executive chairman Anthony Pratt’s winter celebration this weekend, with some claiming he was angry about being filmed.
Sources have now told DailyMail.com Rock – father to daughters Lola, 22, and Zahra, 20 – didn’t know children would be present.
“Chris left the stage that night,” an insider told DailyMail.com. ‘His routine was not suitable for children.
‘Combined with the fact that people were filming when it had been agreed that it would not be recorded, this led to his decision to end the performance.’
They continued, “But he didn’t storm out or disrespect anyone. He simply decided to put an end to it because this was not the content he believed children should be exposed to.”

Rock, who will host SNL this weekend, kicked off his set with a joke about the political climate in the US
‘Our new impetus will be space. We will put all the Mexicans on the rockets,” he joked.
But it was said that he then “looked something like he wasn’t supposed to be recorded, filmed, reported or anything else that wasn’t supposed to happen” before abruptly ending his “very short set,” according to New York Post gossip columnist Cindy Adams.
She recalled how he “didn’t complain, didn’t explain, didn’t take another minute” before leaving.
He “walked quickly and powerfully through people to the exit doors.”
Rock’s standup routines often contain swear words and other derogatory and offensive language.
His most recent Netflix show, Selective Outrage, comes with the following disclaimer: “Chris Rock’s Netflix comedy special is not appropriate or suitable for children or families due to inappropriate and sexually explicit language. Viewer discretion advised.”
In it he tells parents: ‘Stop telling our children that they are special.

‘They may be special to you, but not to me. I don’t play that kind of nonsense.
‘Every day before my children go to school, I get them at the door and say: “Lola and Zahra, look at this. Once you walk out this door, no one will care about you.”
In a separate sketch from the show, Rock talked about relationships and why they sometimes don’t last.
He said: ‘People always say, ‘When we got together it was so much fun, but then problems started.’ No, they didn’t. Nothing emerged. Every problem you had today, you also had when you met.
“But you were damned, so you forgave it. You knew he didn’t wash dishes. But he gave you good things! You knew she couldn’t cook, but she licked your assholes.’
This weekend’s incident comes after Rock came under scrutiny for a cringeworthy joke he made about Sean “Diddy” Combs teaching kids “wrong from wrong.”
The joke, from the 2003 VMAs, resurfaced on TikTok in the wake of the explosive allegations against Combs.
Rock, who revealed he was diagnosed with non-verbal learning disorder in 2020, told the audience: “My favorite show on MTV is Making the Band with P Diddy.

“It’s the best show on television because you see Puff Daddy as a mentor to the kids.
‘And who better than Puff Daddy to show the kids a thing or two? That’s right, you see Puff Daddy giving great fatherly advice.’
Rock, who was famously bashed by Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars, wasn’t the only celebrity hired for last weekend’s soirée.
Pratt, executive chairman of Pratt Industries, invited comedian Wali Collins and country singer Keith Urban to perform.
