Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has become the latest victim of an attempted robbery after two men tried to break into his house with metal bars in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to reports.

Carvajal was not at home at the time of the incident, but thermal cameras detected the hooded men outside the house, and they quickly fled before having the chance to go into the building after realising they had been spotted.

The 30-year-old full back was also made aware of the potential break-in, and ordered his staff to check the premises, while the Civil Guard also turned up at the scene, but the two men had gone by this point, as reported by El Confidencial.

Upon his return, Carvajal reviewed CCTV footage of the attempted break-in, which showed that the men had climbed over the fence to get onto his property, but that they did not get into his house.

Carvajal’s narrow escape came just 24 hours after Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was attacked in his own home by armed robbers.

Aubameyang and his wife were forced to lie on their floor by the group of men, and the 33-year-old striker was struck on the chin with an iron bar which left him with a broken jaw.

The former Arsenal man has since spoken out, admitting that he no longer feels safe in his Barcelona home.

‘Hey guys, thanks a lot for all the messages,’ Aubameyang wrote on social media as he addressed fans on Wednesday.

‘On Sunday night, some violent cowards broke into our home and threatened my family and my children, just to steal some stuff.

‘They injured my jaw but I will recover in no time, and thank God no one else was physically harmed.

‘The feeling that we are no longer safe in our own home is hard to understand and describe, but as a family, we will overcome this and stand stronger than ever.

‘Thanks for all the support, it really means a lot to us.’

Karim Benzema is another high-profile LaLiga player who has been the victim of a robbery in recent months as his house was broken into in January.

Like Carvajal, Benzema was not at his home at the time as the robbery occurred while he was playing for Real Madrid against Elche.
