Real Madrid had their sights set on Harry Kane as they prepared to join Man United in a £100 million race for his signature following the departure of Karim Benzema…
- Real Madrid set to test the waters as they plot a £100m move for Kane
- Los Blancos are looking for a replacement for Benzema, who will leave the club
Real Madrid are about to test Harry Kane’s determination to become the best-ever goalscoring record in the Premier League as they plan a £100 million strike for the Tottenham striker.
The Spanish giants have confirmed that legendary striker Karim Benzema will leave Bernabeu this summer, leaving Real to look for a replacement.
Madrid have a long-term interest in Kane and are ready to launch a bid to lure the 29-year-old to the Spanish capital for next season.
Sources have indicated that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy Madrid will name a minimum starting fee of £100 million for Kane once an investigation comes.
However, it is assumed that there is room for negotiation. Manchester United also have a strong interest in Kane heading into the summer transfer window, but Levy is adamant he does not want to sell his club’s prized asset to a domestic rival.

To that end, Real have leverage to negotiate a lower fee of less than £100m, knowing that Levy does not want to do business with another English club.
Tottenham will lose Kane for free next year if they don’t sell him in the next two transfer windows.
It remains to be seen if Kane would seriously consider leaving England for Spain.
The prolific forward has set his sights on breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record of 260. He currently stands at 213 top goalscored goals.
Similarly, Kane and his family are known to have settled in London and an uprooting to Madrid would require deep thinking, especially as wife Katie is expecting their fourth child.

But the temptation to play for one of the most prestigious clubs in the world – plus a virtual guarantee to compete for major trophies – could tempt Kane to give up on his dream of becoming the Premier League’s top goalscorer.
He would also likely be offered a wage deal north of his current £300,000 a week wages at Tottenham Hotspur.
Real Madrid and have built a good working relationship with Tottenham and Levy in recent years.
Luka Modric, Jonathan Woodgate and Gareth Bale are among the players who moved from Spurs to Madrid under Levy.
Likewise, Spurs have re-signed Bale and landed Rafa van der Vaart and Sergio Reguilon.
