Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal has hit back at ‘totally false’ claims made by a man who allegedly acted as a translator for the Spanish national team during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

According to Spanish outlet The targetAlex Pena claimed to have worked with the international squad during the tournament and has since made a number of allegations about the behavior of a number of players, including Carvajal, Nacho Monreal and former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

Pena shared details about the players’ alleged behavior during a night out during the tournament in a little-seen YouTube interview with Che America Latina in 2022, but the clip’s eye-catching content failed to gain traction at the time.

But after the video resurfaced on social media, the defender stepped in to deny de Pena’s allegations, sparking an unsettling celebratory mood in the camp.

In one incident, Pena claims, he was taken to translate on a night out with Carvajal, Monreal and De Gea, and used his Russian to invite a waitress to join them.

Carvajal’s then teammate David de Gea is also said to have been involved in the incident

“We went to a hotel suite,” Pena claimed. “They ordered vodka and a hookah pipe. Suddenly Carvajal asked me to tell (the woman) that he wanted to ‘put his cock down her throat.’

Pena later claimed that De Gea – who The Objective says was dating his now wife Edurne Garcia at the time – spent the night with the woman.

The so-called translator added that ‘Carvajal did not understand that he had been rejected as a Real Madrid player’.

As attention to the claims gained traction on social media, Carvajal quickly denied the allegations in the strongest possible terms.

The Spanish national team in Russia failed to progress past the round of 16 after losing to the hosts on penalties in a season littered with off-field turbulence.

Then-Spanish federation president Luis Rubiales played a role in the team’s preparations imploding with the shock dismissal of head coach Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the tournament.

Lopetegui had been announced as Real Madrid’s future boss hours earlier, and Rubiales claimed that the publicity surrounding breaking the news partly forced his hand when he sacked the manager just two days before Spain’s opening match.

The Wolves boss was replaced by national team sporting director Fernando Hierro.
