Real Madrid has shown off their renovation work at the Santiago Bernabeu with beautiful drone footage posted on their social media accounts.

Their ambitious renovation of their famous home – dating back to 2019 – is considered worthwhile €575 million (£494 million), and is designed to bring the iconic stadium into modern times.

Although the process has been delayed, the stadium debuted its new roof and pitch on Saturday in their 2-1 win over Getafe in their first home game of the season.

Before the game, Real Madrid shared a video with drone images both outside and inside the stadium.

Notable features included the new roof, a terrace surrounding the top level stadium that will provide match visitors with a progressive taste of hospitality, as well as the new pitch.

It also showcases the stadium’s stunning architecture, which has a futuristic look to bring the iconic venue to the present day.

The ambitious initial deadline of 2022 passed and construction work, overseen by club president Florentino Perez, was extended until this summer.

Last year, Madrid signed a deal with Legends and Sixth Street, transferring operation of the stadium to the company for 20 years and raising £309 million.

Going forward, the club will receive 70 per cent of the revenue generated from the ground and estimates that revenue from the use of the venue will increase by £129 million a year.

It was reported in July that work will be completed in September or October this year, with the official opening planned for the winter break in December.

After playing under the roof for the first time, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said: “It’s a spectacular atmosphere, there’s something new.

“I think the fans pushed a lot today, it’s a much more private atmosphere.

“You can feel the fans have been pushing. It will be a very important help, and it was today.’

Jude Bellingham scored a last gasp winner and saved three points for Ancelotti’s side.
