Real Madrid have opened an investigation to identify a perpetrator who allegedly directed racist abuse at Lamine Yamal during El Clásico.
Madrid suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday evening, going down 4-0 to arch-rivals Barcelona in the first El Clásico of the season at the Bernabéu.
With the match 0–0 at halftime, Robert Lewandowski scored two goals in the second half before Yamal scored the third of the match. Raphinha rounded out the scoring shortly afterwards.
Yamal broke another record with his goal, becoming the youngest-ever Clásico scorer, but was reportedly subjected to racist abuse from the stands during the match.
Madrid have now released a statement condemning racist abuse and revealing they have opened an investigation.

“Real Madrid strongly condemns any behavior linked to racism, xenophobia or violence in football and sport, and deeply regrets the insults uttered last night by some fans in one of the corners of the stadium,” the club said in a statement.
“Real Madrid has opened an investigation to locate and identify the perpetrators of these deplorable and despicable insults so that appropriate disciplinary and judicial action can be taken.”

The incident is just the latest in a long line of racist issues in Spain, with many of Real Madrid’s strikers Vinicius Jnr.
