Real Madrid ‘could tie Carlo Ancelotti to a new contract with the Spanish giants’ DESPITE being heavily linked to coaching Brazil’s national team when his deal runs out at the end of the season

  • The Italian manager was 'announced' as the future head coach by the head of the Brazilian Football Federation
  • Neither Madrid nor Ancelotti have confirmed the manager's departure
  • CHRIS SUTTON: Erik ten Hag was WRONG when he said Man United were playing well after their abysmal Champions League exit… is he losing credibility? It all starts

Carlo Ancelotti could be closing in on an extension to his contract at Real Madrid despite frequent ties to the head coach role with Brazil's national team, according to reports in Spain.

The Italian manager took charge of the Spanish giants for a second time in 2021 and has since overseen them winning LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup and the Champions League.

But the former AC Milan manager's current contract expires at the end of the 2023/24 season, and the Madrid club have not yet offered him an extension.

Speculation has been growing since April that Ancelotti's next role will take him away from club football and give him his first role as coach of a national team.

Reports over the summer suggested that 'Don Carlo' was all but certain to join the Selecao, with Brazilian FA head Ednaldo Rodrigues confirming Ancelotti would join ahead of Copa America preparations to lead.

However, according to MarcaReal Madrid and their head coach are quietly moving towards making a decision that could see him extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ancelotti is expected to meet with president Florentino Perez in the coming days to discuss his future. As things stand now, both the head coach and the club are both completely satisfied with the collaboration.

Ancelotti's work at the club this season – including developing superstar Jude Bellingham – is said to have strengthened his intention to stay at Real Madrid.

Perez and Ancelotti are said to have been in constant discussions, but from Real Madrid's perspective the club is not thought to have a succession plan ahead of a potential departure.

Despite appearing to have settled at Real Madrid, Ancelotti could not hide his joy in April when he was first linked with the legendary Brazilian side.

“I am very excited that Brazil want me, but I have to respect the contract with Madrid that I want to honour,” Ancelotti said.
