Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly agreed to become Brazil’s next manager.

ESPN Brazil have reported that the 63-year-old Italian has said ‘yes’ to take over at the end of the season.

If the legendary coach accepts the position, it will be his first time venturing into international soccer.

It is said that it could be some time before a deal is publicly announced, with Ancelotti still contracted at the Santiago Bernabéu in June 2024, and with final details still under discussion.

However, reports suggest that Ancelotti could leave the club a year early and that he will sign a three-year contract with the Brazilian team.

Their deal would start in July 2023 and run through August 2026, following the conclusion of the World Cup that will take place in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Brazilian players in Madrid, including Eder Militao, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr, are reported to be aware of the decision and while they are sorry he is leaving the club, they are happy to see him train the five-time world champions.

Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the Brazilian Soccer Confederation, told ESPN that they wanted a coach that they unanimously agreed to and would complete the cycle of a World Cup.

Brazil was knocked out of the World Cup in Qatar at the quarterfinal stage after one of the pre-tournament favorites was knocked out on penalties by Croatia.

Manager Tite later confirmed that he would be stepping down and although Brazil does not officially have a manager yet, they have plenty of time to make a decision.

Despite the reports from Brazil, Ancelotti has remained mum on the issue.

Asked about the possibility of taking charge of Brazil on Friday, he told his news conference ahead of this weekend’s Club World Cup final: “My situation is very clear.” I have a contract with Real Madrid until 2024.’
