Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he expects England’s Jude Bellingham to withdraw from international duty and return to Spain.

The 20-year-old suffered a dislocated shoulder during the 0-0 draw between Los Blancos and Rayo Vallecano in La Liga last Sunday.

Ancelotti initially expected his star midfielder to be available for Real Madrid’s match against Valencia this weekend.

After the match, Madrid’s manager revealed that he expects Bellingham to return to the Spanish capital after his injury was assessed by England’s medical staff.

Ancelotti did confirm that Bellingham would travel home to be assessed by England’s doctors, but said he would not be allowed to play.

‘If he hasn’t played today he can’t play for England. He needs to do specific work to strengthen his shoulder and he will do that in the coming weeks.

‘After the international break I think he can play again.’

“I think he will come back because he won’t play with them (England) either.”

The news also comes after James Maddison was forced to withdraw from the squad following an ankle injury suffered during Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat to rivals Chelsea.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate has named Bellingham in his squad to face Malta and North Macedonia in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Now that England have already qualified for the tournament in Germany after a convincing 3-1 victory over Italy, Southgate may choose to rest Bellingham.

However, England are still looking to secure one of the top six places for the tournament, so will undoubtedly have a decent squad for both matches.
