Real Housewives stars slammed by fashion designer who ‘refuses’ to dress them

Fashion designer Christian Siriano has had a lot to say about why he doesn’t want to dress Real Housewives stars — explaining that it “can be frustrating.”

His statement comes on the heels of his recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where he insinuated that he won’t dress the Real Housewives stars because they won’t pay for his clothes.

The answer came after Cohen asked Siriano, who got his start on the network’s hit Project Runway, if he had ever dressed a Real Housewives star before.

“I mean, ever? Maybe. But listen, they’re not on my list because they don’t pay,” he said on the show.

However, there was one star who was an exception – and that was Real Housewives of Salt Lake City newcomer Bronwyn Newport, who he said was his “number one” customer and actually pays for her “passes.”

His statement stems from his recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where he insinuated that Real Housewives stars don’t pay for his clothes.

Now, in a new red carpet interview with TIME magazineSiriano revealed whether or not he thinks the Real Housewives will pay him now that he drafted them on WWHL.

“Listen, you know, the thing is, and I understand, in this world sometimes there are free dresses flowing around, people are always looking, ‘Can I borrow this for this, can I borrow that for this,’” Siriano said. in a clip posted to TikTok.

“But you know what’s hard is I said before, we’re not just a closet, like we’re in this as a company, that’s how we finance our company, I have a lot of employees, a lot of mouths to feed,” he continued. the designer.

He admitted that it “can be frustrating at times” when things like this happen.

“Hopefully everyone is aware of that,” the designer continued.

“And maybe it’s not just Housewives, maybe some actors and musicians will understand that too, I mean, Oprah pays, hello,” he added.

In the comments section of TIME’s TikTok clip, many seemed to agree with Siriano’s thoughts on the matter.

“I could see giving a dress a big start for a big event, but the Real Housewives just pollutes his brand,” one person said.

Another agreed: “It’s a business. Creators should be paid for their work and workers should be paid. If they can’t buy, they have to rent.’

‘I appreciate him saying this. They do the same with hair and makeup,” someone else claimed.

Another TikTok user said: ‘Love him, PAY HIM, he’s a genius.’

But hilariously, this isn’t the first time The Real Housewives has had to deal with an unpaid designer dress.

More than a decade ago, Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel accused her former costar, Ramona Singer, of stealing a dress from the set of her defunct talk show.

At the time per OK! MagazineFrankel said Singer told her her dress had fallen out of her car, but later posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing the dress with her daughter Avery.

Singer later admitted that she did have the dress and would return it to Frankel.

However, it remains unclear whether she ever returned them.
