Shah was charged in March 2021 with conspiracy to commit money laundering and wire fraud for her involvement in a telemarketing scheme that defrauded the elderly and other vulnerable people.

She insisted she was innocent of these charges in March 2022 during the Season 2 reunion special.

‘I’m fighting this. I’m innocent. And I will fight for anyone who can’t fight for themselves because they don’t have the means or the means, so they don’t fight,” she said.

She continued, “I will fight because No. 1, I am innocent and No. 2, I am going to represent every other person who cannot fight and has not been able to do so.”

Her former assistant and accomplice Stuart Smith changed his plea to guilty in November 2021, and Shah followed suit and changed her plea to guilty in July 2022.

Shah reported that she completed her prison sentence in February 2023 and was ordered to pay as much as $6.5 million in restitution.

The sentence was reduced in March 2023, with her representative revealing that Shah was determined to pay back her victims.

“I spoke to my client Jen Shah by phone this week – she is doing well and remains committed to helping her victims recover,” she said.

“She has initiated her restitution payments and we hope to have her home as soon as possible so she can resume life with her family and work, putting this chapter of her life behind her,” the rep added.

In June 2023, it was reported that she completed an anger management course while in prison.

‘Through journaling, homework, audio lessons, and the weekly two-hour group sessions/class, I have learned more about what anger is, where it comes from, and healthy ways to react and react that are safe and helpful’ , she told us through her representative.

Shah said that “challenging unhelpful beliefs” was one of the key tactics she studied to create alternative outcomes from stressful situations.
