Real Housewives of Dallas star Dr. Tiffany Moon shares what it's like to buy a Hermes BIRKIN bag – and the incredibly intricate packaging and accessories the designer wallets come with
A former Real Housewives of Dallas star has lifted the lid on what you can expect to find in that big orange box when you bring home an expensive Hermès Birkin bag — if you were ever so lucky.
The peek behind the luxurious curtain was shared on TikTok last month by Dr. Tiffany Moon, who works as a board-certified anesthesiologist and is the founder of fragrance company Aromasthesia Candles.
In 2021, the doctor admitted that she considered herself a “connoisseur” of Hermès handbags during an interview with Glamor magazinebecause she has an extensive collection of them in all kinds of different shapes, sizes, colors, materials and leather types.
Birkins are notoriously one of the most difficult bags to get your hands on, as they are made in an extremely limited supply and are reportedly only offered to customers who have an extensive purchasing history with the brand.
Anesthesiologist Dr. Tiffany Moon took to TikTok last month and revealed exactly what comes in the box when you buy an Hermès Birkin bag
She showed viewers each item that came in the box along with the expensive purchase
In the clipDr. Moon, who goes by the username @TiffanyMoonMD online, she went through all the goodies that come with the Birkin, while showing viewers her bright pink Birkin 25 bag in matte alligator and Rose Extreme color.
“These are all things you should get when you buy a new Birkin bag,” Moon said.
“It should come in a nice box, with a little cushion for your Birkin to rest on,” she explained, patting the small white cushion inside the orange box.
She then said that the bag should come with a piece of protective felt that fits over the top of the bag.
It also includes a ribbon on the outside of the bag, as well as a series of protective dust bags.
“A dust bag for the bag, and then a dust bag for the key and clochette and lock that match your bag,” said Dr. Moon, as he showed viewers the different fabric carriers that come with the purchase.
Dr. However, Moon told DailyMail.com that she didn't use the dust bags that came with the bags for one reason.
“I don't use the dust bag to store my bags because I have doors in my closet to keep dust out and I like to be able to see all my bags,” explained Dr. Moon out to DailyMail.com.

The bag that Dr. Moon showed in the video was a Birkin 25 bag in matte alligator
She also revealed that the bags used to come with their own raincoat, but the brand seemed to no longer do this.
“Until recently, all my Birkin bags also came with a raincoat, but I've never used that so I have dozens of them,” she added.
“I think that's why they stopped recording them, because no one really uses them.”
Each Birkin bag requires at least 18 hours of craftsmanship Sotheby'sand each piece comes with a “unique code” that tells buyers the year it was made and the craftsman behind it.
A leather Birkin typically costs around $10,000, according to the auction house, and is the famous brand's “most sought-after” bag.
Dr. Moon told DailyMail.com that her first Birkin bag was a black 14-inch Togo bag with gold hardware that she bought in 2008.
It was a gift to herself after she completed her medical training.
“It's a classic and I feel like a great 'starter' Birkin because it goes with everything and you can make it dressy or casual,” revealed Dr. Moon.
She also took viewers through the receipts that came with the expensive purchase, including a quote certificate for the exotic bags
In 2020, Moon and her then-six-year-old twin daughters, Chloe and Madison, now 9, even dressed up as Birkin bags for a Halloween party
During a 2021 interview, Dr. Moon admitted that she was a “connoisseur” of Hermès handbags
“The receipt, of course,” said Dr. Moon, holding up the piece of paper.
'If it's an exotic species, you need a CITES, and this paper thing, a booklet that says something in French. That is it.'
The TV personality told DailyMail.com that it was very important to make sure you take good care of your bag.
“You want to protect your investment, so I recommend storing it in the closet, away from direct sunlight,” she explained.
'Some people choose to put the dust bag on and store it in there or in the box, but I find that too cumbersome.'
Tiffany also offered some advice for those who might be hoping to get their hands on their own Hermès Birkin.
“I get asked this all the time and there is no magic answer,” Dr. Moon to DailyMail.com.
“The best way is to build a relationship with your local Hermès store and stick with 1 SA (sales associate).”
In the comments section of her video, many users seemed eager to learn more about the bag
“There are stories of people with no purchasing history just coming in and buying a Birkin, but that's extremely rare.
“Hermès would like you to be a fan of the brand and buy other items before they offer a quota bag (Birkin or Kelly).”
In the comments section, many users fantasized about the day when they could get one of the bags for themselves.
