A tenant is shocked after their real estate agent made an unusual demand following a routine property inspection.

The tenant on Tuesday shared an email they received from the real estate agent telling them to make their bed.

“I had an inspection of my condo today,” the tenant wrote on Reddit.

“The broker told me to make my bed.”

The frustrated tenant shared an image of the correspondence, which begins with “Good afternoon.”

“Following today’s routine inspection, please note that there are a few things that need to be taken care of,” the email continued.

“This means: The bed must be made.”

The tenant added that other things on the list were reasonable given that they had been away from home for four weeks and the concerns were to be expected.

However, the tenant said they told the real estate agent that they would not make their bed and that it should not have been suggested in the first place.

Social media users were shocked by the request, with many deeming it “petty.”

“Your house may be lived in,” one wrote, “and they can’t complain about something that isn’t damage or likely to do damage.”

Social media users said the request was “small” and the “house may be inhabited” (stock image)

“Show me in the rental contract where it says the beds must be made,” another said.

‘What a joke.’

Other tenants shared their horror stories about property inspections, and one wrote that their real estate agent even made their roommate’s bed while they were away.

“Last year I forgot I had an inspection at 9 a.m. and it was my first day off in two weeks,” said one tenant.

“I woke up with the REA standing over me in bed, who then lectured me about some washing up in the sink.”

Another shared, “I had a conversation about water droplets on the shower glass, because they popped up first thing in the morning and I had just showered.”

“I was told there were dishes on the sink, I think the mold in the carpet and corners of the living room ceiling is more concerning,” one commented.

“Then she shut up.”

A tenant joked, “Did your mom do the inspection?”
