The Justice Department released a third indictment against the ex-president on Thursday, accusing Trump of conspiracy to destroy surveillance video showing Mar-a-Lago employees moving boxes of classified documents.
In addition, the indictment also says Walt Nauta, the already-indicted Trump aide, used a shush emoji in a text message to a Mar-a-Lago employee when he mysteriously backed out of a trip with Trump, citing a emergency in the family.
At the Florida resort, Nauta met with property manager Carlos De Olivera close to the bushes for talks.
The new indictment charges De Olivera with conspiracy to obstruct justice; altering, destroying or mutilating any document and making false statements.
According to the latest documents, De Olivera attempted to have another employee destroy the security footage. When that failed, De Olivera is charged with draining the pool and soaking the recording equipment, the FBI claims.
Prosecutors also accused De Oliveira of lying to the FBI during a voluntary interview, falsely claiming he was not involved in moving boxes of classified documents to Mar-a-Lago.
“Never saw anything,” De Oliveira told officers, according to the indictment.
“This is nothing more than an ongoing desperate and desperate effort by the Biden Crime Family and their Justice Department to harass President Trump and those around him,” Trump’s campaign said in a statement.
