Azalea said she has been a victim of sexism and abuse throughout her successful career in the music industry.

She added, “It’s actually exactly why I feel it’s necessary for me to share my views as a woman in music: in regards to Daystar Peterson.”

“You run his business and I’d care a lot if you could tell me why “Tory Lanez” is far from your average entitled rap star.”

Lanez took no stand in his own trial, prompting Azalea to write, “The unfortunate side effect of his choice is that he has been painted in the most unrecognizable manner to you, the jury, and the public.”

“I’ve seen him defuse so many thorny situations with kindness and humor, he’s the last person to lose his cool.

“I’ve never encountered the jealous, angry person he’s been accused of being. I know him as someone who is always bursting with happiness. When you want to cry, if you call Daystar, he’ll find a way to make you laugh.”

She revealed that she took it upon herself to employ six of his staff while he was in prison and that is why they were not paid.

It continued, “I hope you’ll consider a phrase that will make sure this is transformational and not life-destroying.” Not just for Daystar, but for his family, son and the countless others who depend on him and are committed to helping him reach his full potential.

She said if Lanez was allowed to stay in the US after his sentence, she would hire the Canadian-born woman as her executive producer for her next album.

She asked the judge to “be kind enough to consider a sentence that does not require deportation.”

The singer revealed in the newly unsealed letter: “He leads a prayer circle every night and has been empowering others during his time in prison. In fact, when we spoke last week, he told me he was glad God put him in prison.

“He said this is an opportunity to humble himself and soften his heart – ironic to hear that one of the nicest people I know is striving to become even kinder.”

‘I’m not shocked – it’s who he is! Watering others and giving them light until something beautiful grows.’

The letter added, “I have never seen him lose his temper or raise his voice at a woman. He’s always had incredible respect for me and I refuse to believe he would do anything malicious, especially to a woman.’

The Chauffeur rapper, 31, was sentenced to 10 years behind bars in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon — and Azalea wrote an impassioned tweet response after her letter was made public — claiming the note was “not that interesting” and that her words ‘were sensational’. .’

‘2. I don’t “support” anyone. the whole is full of quirks. My letter never mentioned anything about what happened that night,’ she explained.

‘3. I was told this was only for a judge but it is being discussed in public? It was never my intention to comment publicly,” explained the Black Widow singer.

‘4. I am not in favor of throwing someone’s life away if instead we can give reasonable punishments that are rehabilitative. I support prison reform. Period of time.

‘5. I was asked to write about my real experience and the kind of punishment I think he deserves: I did. It’s not really that interesting, but I understand why it’s being sensationalized. . . adding, “See you next week to discuss pizza toppings, I suppose.” LOL.’

About 20 minutes after she posted her five-point explanation, the Billboard Music Award winner reiterated her position, writing, “I really hate that this is today’s online discourse because it’s not exactly an explosive revelation.” ‘

She continued her position that “yes: he needs to be held accountable,” but insisted that “the charges don’t warrant 5plus in jail.”

“Most agree with that sentiment, because it’s a reasonable opinion. This is not newsworthy,” she concluded.
