The first plot details have been revealed Reacher season 3, and it looks like everyone’s favorite mountain man is in for a slightly less powerful adventure.
In a Prime Video press releaseAmazon confirmed that the next entry of the hugely successful show will see the eponymous hero embark on a more stealthy mission than he’s used to.
Indeed, a new logline for it Reacher‘s third appearance on the streaming giant suggests that his brain, rather than his fists, will have to do more talking next time. “Reacher must go undercover to rescue an informant held by a terrifying enemy from his past,” the story synopsis reveals.
Of course, the soldier-turned-vigilante is no stranger to covert operations, with the series’ protagonist having taken part in similar missions during his time in the US military. But considering he’s made a name for himself on Prime Video by using his seemingly superhuman strength to take on his enemies over the past two seasons, Jack Reacher will have to use his smarts over his physicality in the third season of his self-titled show. I hope he can still fight his way out of tough situations in the threequele every now and then.
A buddy cop adventure and literary inspiration
If Reacher Season 3’s short storyline sounds familiar, as it’s based on another ‘Reacher’ novel by Lee Child. The book series, which heavily influenced one of Prime Video’s best shows, will provide plenty of inspiration for its next adventure, with Amazon confirming that ‘Persuader’ – the seventh entry in Childs’ action-crime thriller franchise – will be adapted for the story of season 3.
Reacher won’t be the only one going undercover next season either. The main character portrayed by Alan Ritchson is again accompanied by Maria Sten’s Frances Neagley, who appeared in four episodes for Reacher season 1 and played major roles in eight of Reacher the season 2 entries.
No other details about the character, story, or release date have been revealed. However, filming continues Reacher Season 3 kicked off in December 2023 in Toronto, with the hit show renewed for a new outing from Amazon Studios two weeks before its predecessor premiered on one of the world’s top streaming services.
