RB Leipzig 2-0 Borussia Dortmund: Willi Orban’s last gasp goal deep in added time seals the current German Cup holders’ place in the quarter-finals
- Ex-Chelsea man Timo Werner struck in the 23rd minute to send Leipzig ahead
- Dortmund could not find an answer despite a stronger performance in the second half
- Orbán’s 90+8 minute winner sealed the visitors’ fate and caused them to crash
Willi Orban’s 98th minute three minutes into the official added time secured RB Leipzig’s victory, beating Borussia Dortmund out of the German Cup.
Former Chelsea player Timo Werner opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and, while Dortmund seemed to control much of the second half, they couldn’t find a response.
Jude Bellingham started on the bench and was introduced in the 63rd minute, but could not help his side get back into the game.
Dortmund’s departure from the league means a Bundesliga title is the last chance for silverware this season.
